They beat LSU by 4 on a last minute drive, lost to TAMU, and held on to beat GA as the clock expired. Other than Michigan, the rest of their schedule was pathetic. They very well may have been the best team but it's definitely not as clear cut as some, including ESPiN, make it out to be. Just as Kramer planned.

the most deserving team in the game...And thank God Notre Dame went undefeated or we would have had Florida foisted upon us...Although you could certainly make the argument that Bama didn't belong in last years game...Until they played it...

until we get a true playoff system (16 teams), and no not the 4 team charade they will start in a year, then there is no definitive national champ. Bama was no better than aTm at the end of the season, so why should they be rated ahead of aTm. Oregon played a tougher schedule and only had one loss. Sorry, Bama lucked out that ND lucked out in going undefeated, and Florida got exposed for the frauds they were by Louisville.

The only way you can determine the true strength of schedule is after the season is over and not August.

With regards to a playoff, that's a lot to place on a CFB team considering the regular 12 games and possible conference championship game.
