1975 I was .2 years old

Born in August of 75.

If anyone is interested in acquiring this old poster, let me know. It's way before my time and has no sentimental value.

Alabama in the non-conference nice!

Proof that, unlike some, we've never been afraid to play a real schedule.

Well, we sure played that schedule like we were scared (2-9-0).

For some reason I do remember listening to that Alabama game as a kid. It wasn’t good.

In August of 1975 I was 8 years old and just arrived in the US. Had no idea what American football was. Wow how things have changed. That poster would be cool in any Clemson man cave.

We really took care of Wake Forest & the Tar Heels ?

We have a lot to be grateful for now! In 1977 we started to turn it around with Charlie Pell & then Danny Ford.

‘75 was as bad as it gets…lol

I turned 8 years old in August of '75 but unfortunately I didn't know who Clemson is until December 29, 1978

Says a lot about how bad Wake and UNC were.

Yeah, I'll sell it to someone local (around Clemson). I won't ship it because it's a thicker cardboard type poster; it can't be rolled up without destroying it. As to price. Make a fair offer.

I was a junior and that Red Parker team was not very good and the schedule was pretty rough. On a positive note, draft beer was 25 cents.

Didn’t we play Texas A&M then and have player Peanut Martin

I was a senior and this was probably the worst coaching job ever by a Clemson coach in my lifetime. We had finished 7-4 the year before and had almost the whole team coming back. Back then that was the best Clemson season in 15 years. We went 2-9 that year and I went to the game in Tuscaloosa where we got beat 56-0. Should have seen it coming. The spring before that season I went into Red Parker's Scoreboard, a ice cream shop right across from Mell Hall. The only guy working in the shop was the HC of Clemson football himself. I actually asked him whether he had something more important to do and he told me his employee had called in sick and he had to come in.

Re: 1975 I was .2 years old- went to the Bama game

Feb 5, 2023, 1:32 PM

and stayed w wifes family in Bama. Total behind kicking as was the Ga game. I think I went to 8 games that year as a new alum. We had been picked to be solid that year. We were not. I think Ga beat us 38-0 and it was far more lopsided than that.

YOu can not recognize Bryant Denny stadium as the same place now as the dump it was then.

I suggest writing the scores on the poster and sending it to Dabo. He could post it as a “memory” for all to see. Thanks for sharing.

Not a bad idea. Perhaps scores on a separate piece of paper...

I remember heading to the Bama game in 1975 with my Coot friend driving. When we got to Atlanta, his 1972 Nova broke down and we were able to pull off I-85 near Grady Hospital. By the time we got it towed, had the fuel pump replaced and pulled some shenanagins with some locals, we were broke. We had just enough time and gas to get out of Atlanta and head back to Seneca before we probably would have ended up in Grady Memorial.

As it turned out, we had more of an adventure in ATL than the 56 - 0 drubbing in Tuscaloosa.

Well, when you go 7-4 in ‘74, you get overconfident!

Feb 5, 2023, 3:29 PM

After all, we were * undefeated at home* the previous year. The commemorative pop bottle told the story!

Honestly, that 1975 season may have been the most disappointing in Clemson history because it seemed as if we’d gotten over the hump, but that wouldn’t actually happen until 1977.

That was a disappointing season, but that '75 frosh class got us to a bowl in 1977, the first one since 1959. That class included Steve Fuller, Jerry Butler & Dwight Clark plus several other great names in Clemson history.
