That these young successful coaches that they wanted were not going to be that guy that followed a legend and would be looking for a new gig three years later. Any new coach with very limited DC or OC experience would not want to destroy their future by following Saban. I think Bama will end up hiring an older coach who will be happy with a few million dollars after three years and will hang it up.

I’d jump on the bana offer and endure 3 years. Get fired, and take a lesser known college and work my way back into another big offer.

I read several news comment threads and saw it in one "man on the street" interview segment about Alabama fan's opinions on who the coach should be. Many of the usual names popped up, but from their fan's perspective a recurring theme is that they don't want someone that is not culturally a southerner.

They'll get who they get though...
