I’m thinking Golden is the next dc

Al Golden IS NOT a candidate to replace Wes Goodwin!***

Al Golden just signed a 4-year extension with Notre Dame that pays him $2.25 million annually which makes him the third highest paid DC in college football. It stands to reason that if he does leave Notre Dame, it will likely be for a job in the NFL.

HTH!

You think he gonna move directly from DB to DC in the NFL? Would be a rare event but so was Hurricane Helene and the Cal wildfires. Possible.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Rare event? What do you think the normal progression is then?

Yes, defensive minded head coaches who get fired also sometimes move to DC. But otherwise it's almost always, by definition, from a position coach to DC.

The Titans DC now literally just finished his first season as a DC after being DB coach for the Ravens lol.

It happens all the time, especially in the NFL, with position coaches on both sides of the football.

So we'll see. He's also friends with Tyler Grisham from their days in Denver. Think we have as good a shot to land him as anyone.

I'm guessing we will know something on Monday. Why would Golden leave ND. They will be playing for the National Championship.

Legit question... do we know this to be true?

Or has NIKE deep research to find the F&F link (tongue in cheek) begun to grow legs? LOL

I would say Robert Saleh is the top choice for the Niners. He got his break under Shanahan there and did a great job and has apparently already interviewed for the DC position in SF. Just a matter of if Saleh gets a HC opportunity elsewhere. I believe the Jaguars might be interviewing him as well for their HC role.

I don’t know how much we will pay our next defensive coordinator.

NFL

Vic Fangio and Mike Zimmer are the only NFL defensive coordinators earning over $4 million a year.
Only the top five highest-paid NFL defensive coordinators earn at least $2 million.

it probably matters more where he sees himself after having now experienced both pro and college jobs. Also sounds like the type where family considerations would weigh heavy so I’d say he’s still as much of a candidate as any other.
