Ah, the Company line

It “sounds good” though in reality a rotten egg. Cade was given his chance on our on 8 yard line. A game where admittedly Streeter had no game plan (the weather was bad with the wind blowing). All knew the forecast except for our coaches. Had DJ been pulled in a game with his first mistake I guess our 3rd string QB would have started most of the year. I’ve tried to move on as most of the fans however, every time Streeter talks about it, he seems even more foolish with his bs. He needs to let it go, it’s like picking at a scab that prevents the wound from healing (moving on). Their continuing QB debacle decisions cost us the State championship and a trip to the CFP. To Streeter - let it go, so we can… move on.

You are 100% correct. There is no QB controversy at CU except in the hearts and minds of those living in the past.

Very well put. Especially the let it go so we can part. If you're gonna make a mistake let's not rehash it over and over with revisionist history, leaving a sour taste everytime with the fans. Be quiet and move on and eventually we will stop. Keep pretending you were right and I'll never let it go. Ever. Literally.

Cade was put in a bad spot but made it worse by throwing an INT. Had he been ready he would have managed the situation. It’s true that we would have punted Cade may have been given another set of downs on the next series with a better starting point

Keep talking about the CK INT at ND all you want but the truth of the matter is that CK should have started the opening drive of the 3rd QTR and never looked back.

As posted a while back, Tigers 1st Half Offense performance at ND:

4 plays - blocked Punt and TD ND
7 plays - turnover on downs
3 plays - punt
4 plays - punt
5 plays - punt
1 play - sack (half - down 0 - 14)

First 2 drives of the 2nd half with DJ, 4 plays and 9 plays both ending in punts. Then it was time to throw CK in the game backed up against the goal line at the 7 yard line. Genius at work there.

Yeah, this right here. We probably still don't beat ND with

I am not sure Streeter can let it go. The media keep bringing it up (rightly so).

He could, however, come up with a better (more honest) answer.

I didn't read the article but if Dabo thought Cade was ready to play earlier, he would have played more. We are not at practices, so we don't know and our coaches are doing a great job of winning games in case you were just looking at rankings the last 10-12 years.

Re: Ah, the Company line

Dec 28, 2022, 10:39 AM

So, he wasn't ready in the 4th Q of the SC game, even after DJ got banged up, but he had a miraculous week of practice and became ready in the 1st Q of the UNC game? That is the part where, for me at least, the story kind of falls apart.

I think the reality is that Cade was ready to play well before the coaches were ready to put him in.

I think that part is hard to dispute.

The Real question is why ?

Re: Ah, the Company line

Dec 28, 2022, 11:22 AM

My only conclusion is that DJ's mental status was so fragile that Dabo knew he had to be 100% sure Cade was ready to become the starter because once he pulled DJ, he would be of little to no use to us afterward. I think Dabo just struggled all year to get comfortable with that decision and he finally admitted to himself by the ACC Championship game he was probably going to have to make the change and by then, there really was no more risk. Cade shared reps with the 1's in practice all week before the NC game so clearly, Dabo got him ready to come in early and did not hesitate to put him in after DJ started off the way he did.

That is all I can come up with.

Re: Ah, the Company line

Dec 28, 2022, 11:24 AM

And maybe the way the whole Kelly Bryant situation went down where KB checked out on us after naming TL the starter spooked Dabo because he was afraid the same thing would happen with DJ and he didn't think Cade was at the same point as TL was in terms of readiness in order to make that change as early as he did with TL.

Re: Ah, the Company line

Dec 28, 2022, 2:02 PM

Didn't have to make him the starter, just play him when we got a 2 TD lead earlier in the year. We didn't even give him work with 3 score leads. Either Dabo is losing it, or Streeter is an idiot, or there were major locker room issues that they were both worried about.

They spent so much time massaging DJ'S ego and trying to build his confidence and make him adequate, that they shortchanged Cade's development.

The Jimmy Swaggart effect I guess - “Cade’s healed (and ready) from one week to the next” .. please..
