Focus Broadband is our cable provider here at Holden Beach, and they are going to discontinue cable tv service on 12/24. A special present huh. Any recommendations as to direct tv, dish or other tv service providers will be much appreciated. Doc

Spectrum should be the best based on their rates.

We changed from Spectrum to YouTube TV and saved about $130 per month.

all the local Columbia channels, including PBS. I had DirecTV for years before getting Carolina Connect fiber five years ago. I much prefer YTTV over DTV. There is hardly ever a sporting event I'm interested in that I can't get on YTTV. I hated the DTV strategy of giving you a good deal for a few months to keep me on, then would start creeping rates back up. YTTV has increased rates, but it's all up front with no contracts.

I noticed YouTubeTV started piping in their own super long unskippable commercials when you watch stuff on DVR, which sort of defeats the purpose of DVR for me. Not a great development, and there is nothing stopping them from doing that more and more. Still probably the best streaming platform, but the Roku interface is clucky and confusing too. The great thing about streaming platforms is you can try them all - no hardware install, no contracts, just try them all and cancel the ones you don't like.

They all have one and I think it is at least a month.
Once you get thru them all..u can pick which 1 you like the most.
It's a bit of a hassle for you.. but you'll get like 6months free tv which will make up for the pita.

I have YouTube TV and share a Fubo subscription with four others during MLB season since they offer Bally Sports which carries the Atlanta Braves games.

Switched when ESPN pulled their channels off Spectrum literally as the first Clemson game was starting last year, and have never regretted the choice once.

option. Most streaming services offer a free trial, so you could try one and then decide. We have DISH and have been mostly satisfied. When DISH was fighting with Disney a few years ago, we tried YouTube TV, and it was fine. Streaming provides a better picture.

I have Hulu and Peacock because I watch a lot sports and English Premier league. I recently ordered Netflix again after not having it for the last 5 years. It seems to offer a lot of movies/tv series stuff that is interesting. I have Disney as part of Hulu but very rarely watch it unless I feel the urge to do a Marvel movie weekend... Just my 2 cents

So happy I dropped Spectrum and went with Youtube TV. Great thing is wherever you go you can carry the service with you either on your computer, phone, etc. ot the TV where you might be staying, as long as it is a fairly recent model.

I got the disney bundle which includes hulu +, disney and espn 3. I did the disney thing because i have a young kid but if you have certain amex cards they give you $20 off a month for that disney bundle.
I previously had YouTube tv and their interface is better but hulu carries everything that yttv does for the most part.

I've only used Youtube TV and Hulu. For me they are pretty equal, except in price. I think YTT is typically a few dollars cheaper, so that is my go to. I had no issues with Hulu though, so they are very viable. I honestly only pay for YTT during football season, it is canceled during off season.

I have to agree with that. I do want to correct that Directv no longer has Disney/ESPN channels. That dispute ended last week. So they are protected from another shutdown for several years. However, I think YouTubeTV and Disney have their agreement reaching new negotiations sometime next year, so a shutdown is possible. Directv Stream (their streaming service not sat) isn’t horrible. It does have the advantage of a remote you can enter channel numbers directly, which is nice for us old timers.

Old school Direct TV, if you like to watch the Braves. You can get all ESPN and ACC, SEC and pretty much more games that you can possibly watch. Plus they offer alternatives to the corporate, corrupt news media.

I tried Hulu and Sling about 4 years ago and they were both horrible. Then I found FUBO TV. It’s terrific. It’s got all of the sports stuff, including ACCN of course. I think it’s cheaper than YouTube TV. I guess I’ve always got YouTube TV as a backup, but I am not leaving my FUBO TV. https://www.fubo.tv/
