They gave us one of our best games last year. I know with this staff and these players that they won't over look them. And they don't have an answer for an offense. I married into a Razorback family and have despised him ever since the motorcycle accident, not that I like him before but if there is any coach I wouldn't mind going full Miami on this year it would be Petrino. Sorry players. Go Tigers!

Petrino is very easy to dislike. I used to have a running argument with a friend about a 'winning' coach versus a 'nice' coach. He thought winning was everything, I think a clean program is more important. I'm glad Clemson found a coach who can be both.

It's very easy to dislike Louisville as a program given their alleged basketball violations and pitino/petrinos other issues. That being said, I find myself really liking Louisville. Their fans are awesome and they actually care about football. Much rather have them than Maryland.

Louisville is where Clemson was 4 or so years ago

They have confidence, but haven't been able to show it on the field. They had a lousy start, but finished the year strongly. Sounds just like us during the Bowden years. The difference is I think they had better talent then we did then.
No, they shouldn't compete one-on-one with our position players. But if no one tells them that, then they may come in with a lot of confidence.
Some of those years when we knocked off Fla.State, that is mostly what we had ... confidence and a chip on our shoulder.
We're at home and we have the talent ... but we have inexperience in the secondary and the last two games against these guys have been WAY too close.
Circle this game. If we dominate them, then we've shown we've moved to a new level even vs last year.

Their offense did nothing most of the game, and we had trouble moving the ball early, mostly because we had three OL get dinged up in the first two possessions. They all eventually got back into the game, but it was not our best game offensively.

Good post . They have a long way to go to be at the CU/FSU level , but beating anyone is talent , coaching and execution . So yeah , they could beat us . They won't, but they could .

I think last year was their chance and they missed it. You had the perfect storm of Petrino's offense and the remnants of Strong's defense, but they couldn't find a QB in time. I think starting this year the difference in recruiting and Grantham's defense start to become more evident.

over the last 2 years, all but 1 game between Clemson/FSU and Louisville have been a 1 score game.
I don't think that UL can beat BOTH Clemson and FSU next year, but they could easily beat 1 of us and cause the ACCCG to go to crazy tiebreakers.

Can they make a run? Sure. Catching, that's something else.

The Cardinals still have some power on defense ... and if they catch either us or the Noles napping, Louisville can pull the upset.
However, it would still be an upset.
Remember that aside from FSU, no one has played us closer the past 2 years than Louisville. I think someone earlier hit the nail on the head. Louisville is Clemson a few years back ... perhaps without a moral compass, but dangerous.
At the present it would require us or FSU to stumble for the Birds to catch us. But they aren't that far away.

Yeah. Difference is they're probably dropping off.
Charlie Strong had that team built into a whole lot more than a dangerous lurker - they were a power. They crushed FSU in the Orange Bowl the year before the 'Noles won the title with Famous Jameis. They were stacked across the lines, played some savage, but disciplined, defense, and could absolutely pound the rock down your throat, and they had Teddy Bridgewater at QB. One of the most comprehensive top-to-bottom rebuild jobs I've ever seen...and he had stocked that roster largely with good-character, coachable guys who worked their butts off and had some very good chemistry. Texas would be ridiculous to jettison him before he finishes rebuilding there; they'll like what they get once he's done.
Whatever, enter Petrino at Louisville.
There's no questioning his acumen as a playcaller, but he's a moral zero compared to Strong, who even his enemies admit is honest and high-character. And historically Petrino has been a slash-and-burn guy who rarely stays anywhere long and leaves a roster depleted of talent, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
So far he's been able to restock with mostly felons from UGA and TCU who got arrested and kicked off, but opportunism ain't the same as actual recruiting and development, either.
So I dunno. There's plenty of signs of talent and maybe especially culture drain going on there. Yeah, they beat A&M there in the bowl...but looked putrid doing it. Big-time pillow fight between two teams with some serious problems, there. A&M had just lost three starting QB's in the last 7 months, you might recall.

I believe you are thinking of the Florida Gators that were routed by LV if we are thinking of the same season. FSU crushed NIU that year, while the SEC, SEC, Gators were manhandled by Bridgewater and Co. as the UF coach, can't recall who that was now, stomped around on the sideline.

pack of classless thugs while Bridgewater and company kept scoring. Every time Louisville would convert a 1st down, Florida defenders would make a hard hit and then would stand over the offensive player taunting them. Meanwhile, Louisville marched up and down the field on them.

The gap is so much bigger now than last year, our talent is experienced
May 11, 2016, 2:45 PM

The gap gets so much bigger with the 5 star WR's and Renfrow lol. Our talent on offense is in another galaxy and that same defense will see it, feel it and get dominated by us.
No way their offense can keep up with our DL or secondary. This game won't be close because the talent hadn't been in the title game last year.
We played them before this talent had grown and at Louisville after they lost the 1st two games. They were desperate too.
We will have a plan for 1st 4 games before the season and we will have played AU & GT.
This team will not play with failure. Dabo's teams don't lose to teams they should beat. Just look at this team we have. I believe we could pound the rock down their throat or pass every play and win at home.
Donkey kong will be on at FSU! I believe our talent is better than the moles too but we better show up.
Wish we could scrimmage NFL teams.???????????? (just kidding)

was not allowed to be himself for the first 3 games last year. Remember the hesitation to run DW4 early in the season. This team will be light years ahead of the team that showed up in Louisville last season, as will DW4. Yes, scorewise, Louisville was our closest game outside of Bama, but the gap between them and us was and is much larger than 3 points. With everyone healthy, 42-16 CU!!!

that game was also hands down DW's worst game of the season and it was also still at a point in the year when the coaches were to scared to let DW run the ball. is Lamar Jackson dangerous? Sure? But unless our offense just totally craps the bed for some reason I don't see us losing to Lville next year.
