I'm glad that we're as big of an underdog that we are going into this UGA game. I believe that by UGA being our first game to start the season with our guys being a double digit underdog was what our guys needed to see. It sounds like these guys have put in a lot of work during the summer when coaches couldn't be out there with them, but they took it on their own to go go out there and work on the thing they will need to be good at to have a chance in beating the pups. From what we're hearing from Dabo is these guys put in the work during the summer and hopefully that leads our guys to being sharper and better in shape for that first game of the season.
I would be willing to bet that pups hasn't put in the work or work as hard as our guys has during the summer bc the pups believe a win against us is automatic, all they have to do is show up, and hopefully that is what causes them to get bit, Tigers by 3, Go Tigers beat the pups!!!

I believe a really tough opener like this helps the team focus more preparing for the season. Win or lose I think you get big benefits from a game like this over the season.

Too much gets made of being the underdog.

We always see the same comments such as “we do better when they disrespect us,” “Dabo will use this to motivate the team,” and “fire up the ROY bus.”
But in reality, it’s an insult to our team to think that they won’t be as motivated and focused in this game. It’s the first game of the season. We are playing Georgia on national TV in an NFL stadium. These guys will be pumped.

I cringe when I think about the opening prime time game against Duke last year. Turnovers, more turnovers and a key player not in shape by his own admission. Not the start any of us expected. I'm looking for a more focused and ready team this year.

All this talk of one team working harder than the other or one team being more disrespected than the other is nonsense. I'm certain both teams are workng hard and understand the caliber of opponent they will face on August 31. To think Kirby Smart is allowing his team to take Clemson lightly or allowing an attitude of an automatic win to take hold is wishful thinking. Clemson may win but it won't be because UGA was looking ahead to Tennessee Tech week 2.

Both Georgia and Clemson are working very hard for this game. I think fans sometimes come up with reasons why one team will be up or down or looking ahead or whatever.

the reality is that in game one - mistake free ball will win the day - Clemson learned this lesson last year at Duke with a better roster than the blue devils
you have to be tight and do the little things
if Clemson does that they will be in the game with a chance to win in the 4th quarter

I highly doubt Kirby Smart is “taking it easy” before they play Clemson week 1. Elite level coaches don’t tolerate that crap.

obvious that there is a renewed sense of urgency throughout the roster. Part of Dabo's magic here has been bringing out and fostering player and individual leadership throughout the ranks. To me that's been the most glaring missing component these past several seasons - we just haven't excelled in this area as we did during our historic run. This is where I feel like the in-person limitations for several years attributed to Covid have had their largest impact, and why I am as optimistic as I am today as we are getting back to having more of that player-driven leadership on hand, with the talent to back it up.
Considering Dabo's prior success with only Top 10-15 ranked recruiting classes on average, it's been this leadership intangible that has clearly made a big difference in our performance. By all appearances so far this seems to be coming back into form.
