I would say it is a little of both. He probably first had a lot of admiration for DR for what he had been through and thought he deserved a shot, but Dabo is a marketing machine, so he also knew that if DR worked out there would be a lot of positive publicity surrounding him.

I agree! I imagine what Dabo saw was a guy with some talent and tremendous heart and a personal drive that he wants the whole team to aspire to. He made a great decision when he picked up the phone and called D-Rod, IMO.

attention exploded the way it did was because of the outstanding young man that Daniel turned out to be - something Dabo has a knack for finding in people.

The producers decide to change the college to Alabama or Ohio state in order to make the story "more appealing". Just like clemson got screwed in "the blind side".

How did Clemson get screwed in the "Blind Side" movie? At least they did have Clemson's Brad Scott as the only coach who mentioned academics at all. lol

I really don't think that D Rod would sign the release for that. Clemson has also been very good to him in getting him enrolled at Clemson, Plus, b/c of Dabo's difficulties of his life, is why he gave D Rod a chance. D Rod would never sign a release to not use the school where it all started. D Rods helmet has a big Tiger paw on it, and a homer A.

like the Blind Side, we probably won't see it in theaters. It's a nice story, but I don't think it has mass appeal as a studio film. Will probably have to get it on DVD, if it is made at all. Which I will.

I'm not at all saying that the kid in the blind side wasn't important b/c I think it was. But the DRod story is very import for our country and service men trying to get and retain a grip back with their real lives. DRods story would be very inspirational for a lot of men and women feeling their lives are worthless and over.
