After the Ravens pick of Simpson

The Carolina Panthers are now the only current NFL franchise to not pick a Clemson player.
They must not have fond memories of that year in the valley…

I would have rethought running them off if it had been these guys.

That is great trivia!

Anyone have thoughts on why our three first-round prospects were all "under-drafted." Coincidence? Concern about Clemson defenders post-BV?
(I asked the same thing over on the FB page and am bracing for the "Coot!" comments.)

drafting players, they just know "OUR GUY TOTALLY SHOWED OUT AGAINST CHARLESTON SOUTHERN LAST YEAR!!!"
NFL teams are making enormous investments in personnel and it's FAR more than just measurables. Does the player fit the system? Does he gel with the coach and organization? Is he a need for the current roster? Does he have a track record for injury? Is he going to choke a baby and then drop it off the top of a 20-story building while stoned on opioids?
I'd hate to think about what teams actually spend to evaluate and then weed out the choices in order to make one draft pick.

I did some research and the average cost for one drafted player is…

My thoughts are Bresee was sick or hurt

and never showed he fully recovered? Miles seemed to be a guy who did his job but was not into making great plays. Seems like his name was not called much this year for sacks, etc. Simpson is small for the position.

Bresee was a weird situation. Another year without any injuries might have shot him way higher in the first round, but he'd risk getting injured again. Of course, not playing another year at Clemson, if nothing else, sends the message that he is injury prone. If he's guaranteeing himself $4 million (and making $13 million for playing the season) it is the right decision.
I am more curious about the decline of Murphy.
Simpson... well, clearly, thoughts that he should have made the first round weren't (hindsight being 20/20) grounded in reality.
But (especially with the first two, who were absolutely elite prospects by any measureable standard) I wonder if another year with BV would have helped their development a little more. I have no idea. Just wonder.

After the thievery that Tepper showed in Rock Hill. A meteor could hit the panthers and wipe them off the earth and I wouldn't shed a tear. Coming from a guy who grew up with a Kerry Collins poster on his wall. Until Tepper sells the team I will never support those crooks again.
