AFTER CALCULATING THE METRICS

If Clemson was 8-0 right now instead of 4-4, Clemson would be ranked No.2 based upon the metrics and win/loss margin against ranked opponents.
Clemson is ranked No.2 in the entire nation for redzone trips on offense. Of course, only a handful of redzone trips have resulted in points on the board.
Clemson has given up more than 60 points to opponents based upon turnovers. If those points were reversed, Clemson would have outscored every opponent by a margin of 14 points or more.
Simply put, ball security issues have sunk this season and until it improves it will continue to plague this team. Cade Klubnik and Will Shipley are combined for responsibility for more than 80% of the turnovers. Most of the turnovers have occurred in the redzone and was due to a faulty handoff between Cade and Will. Two notable turnovers have occurred whenever Will Shipley has attempted to cross the goal line and score. Phil Mafah has two fumbles of his own and Cade Klubnik has quite a few interceptions thrown.
If you removed the fumbles lost and kept the interceptions thrown, this team would still be undefeated.
BALL SECURITY IS A MUST AND PHIL MAFAH GIVES CLEMSON THE BEST CHANCE TO WIN GAMES BASED UPON THAT STATISTIC ALONE.

Will hasn't thrown any interceptions. A slight mis-type.

This type of “what if” is just mind numbing. Had those turnovers never happened it’s doesn’t mean the offense would have scored, nor does it mean the other teams wouldn’t have scored.
Just Stop! This isn’t helping anything and literally every team on earth can say the same about their team’s mistakes. This team isn’t good and the coaches aren’t doing their jobs.

Yea. It makes a lot more sense to say what would have happened if Dabo had not hired friends and family, or had used the portal, or let Riley call plays, and so on…

Considering that your team is 2-6, I would say that I agree.

What about our last trip to the red zone yesterday? 3rd and goal- we were close enough to punch it in with Mafa who got us there with a long run (and a chance to get a breather on the bench). Instead we throw an incomplete pass and kick a field goal that puts us within 7- but also forces us to tie the game with a TD drive- something we later proved we were incapable of doing with 4:30 to go.

Our turnovers have been too high, but pertly because our defense has forced so few turnovers. The margin matters more that the totals. One of the reasons we have ball security issues is that we practice against a defense not being coached to strip the ball and bait the interceptions. We need some more Peanut Tillman ball punching being taught.
On that note. Peanut works for the FBI now but I bet he could be convinced to take a week off and run a ball stripping clinic. Probably for less than we pay most of our coaches for a week.
