Ad Revenue - TV Contracts

Is anyone discussing what could happen to the TV contracts for the SEC, B1g, ACC, Big 12, etc. if pharmaceutical television ads are banned by President Trump and his cabinet? RFK Jr wants to ban pharma ads. President Trump says he is willing to push for it. Big Pharma pays billions of dollars in television ads per year. If they succeed in banning these ads, depending on what the contracts with each conference say, this event could trigger a renegotiation of all contracts with the major football conferences...potentially leveling the playing field (or leveling it more than it currently is) from a TV revenue standpoint.

I also wonder what ESPN guys are thinking about

how long they contracted with the SEC considering if there are no caps put on NIL etc there are going to be schools with rich alumni bases irrelevant before now that are going to outbid the SEC and shift the talent pool outside of that conference. Duke QB will be tip of the iceberg.

I support banning pharmacy ads and giving patients and doctors more control over medical treatments by establishing an independent (medically trained) arbiter between the insurance company and the hospital.

Doubt it impacts the TV contracts, but anything is possible in this world of unintended consequences.

I realize that we're straddling the line between politics and sports here and that this is a sports board, but 'grigsit' lit the fuse.

Pretty simple reply to the post --- First Amendment to the US Constitution rules here --- regardless of what regime is in power in DC or what leader tries to implement the change, no crimes have been committed by the pharma companies (vs. tobacco companies who cannot run ads anymore anywhere), so there is no legal basis to stop ads from running on tv, web, etc. There are issues with the FCC as well with any "ban." This would go nowhere except to court and that would stop any bans until litigation ensues and then the 1st Amendment would snuff this overall.

Oh, and Go Tigers! I predict Duke vs Clemson in ACC title game this season.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I saw references to the 1st Amendment putting an end to the debate as well...but I'm not that versed on the legal side of this argument.
