ACCCG venue problem - can it be solved?

I sure hope with the new Falcons stadium that somehow the ACCCG can be accommodated. But, I really don't see that happening because I'm sure the SECCG will always have priority, and hotel-wise I can't see two games same day/wkend.
It just seems to me the SEC has a huge image/marketing advantage when they can guarantee their fans easy access and 72 deg and dry weather.
Huge advantage and I don't think the ACCCG has any option except Tampa/St Pete and that is awful location wise.

GA Dome sees as much SEC and other activity as Falcons games, so I guess the dome is a big deal revenue-wise.

The biggest issue is teams like Virginia Tech playing well enough to keep teams with a poor fan following like Duke and Miami out the championship game.

even Duke fans around NC/SC and the students couldn't make a short trek to Charlotte. It would be different if in Atlanta or Tampa. But, good grief....

Agree. Charlotte is the ideal location for the game. Our problem is fan base. The one guarrenteed sell-out would be a Clemson/UNC matchup followed by a Clemson/Va Tech matchup. Only problem with the new system next year is travel. If your team makes the top four, you are first going to pay to travel to the conference championship. Next week you might have to travel to another site, and, if you win, you have to travel to the National Championship. $$$$$

Are there any conference championships that use neutral sites that are outdoors?
The SECCG attendance was only saved by Alabama being in in it when the game was at Legion Field.
The Big 12 CG was touch and go when it was outside in Kansas City.

Love the ACC. No don't want to be in SEC, Big 12, etc. However, since the beginning of the conference, it has been controlled by NC fearsome foursome, NC, NCST, Duke and Wake. The rest our interlopers watching the "MBA,Dr., Professor" Tobacco Rd dynasty tell we poor outlanders how fortunate we are to be associated with such aristocracy. Time for a revolution. Stand up VA Tech, develop a backbone Miami, rise up Oh Clemson, etc. The state of NC considers itself too good for the rest of the South. Maybe we could move their capital to Pittsburgh?

of NC has perfectly no bragging rights when it comes to people or the state or the culture, or whatever. I might concede the Outer Banks as the best of the GA/SC/NC coast, but I'll take Charleston, Savannah, or even Atlanta as destination cities over any city in NC any day, any year, any.....
And when it comes to football, those 4 schools haven't earned any special bragging rights within the ACC. But. There IS basketball. And I guess they see that sport as the dominating one, eh?

Yes, pretty easily. Put the ACCCG on FRIDAY afternoon. That will give them time to get ready for the SECCG the next day, moving that game to 8pm. Would be a chore but can be done. Plenty of hotels in Atl. Unless you get Clemson and/or VT or NC in the game, the attendance in Charlotte is always going to stink. Realignment might help insure CU in the game more often which would help attendance but I doubt powers that be will let that happen.

Re-alignment could help that issue, but there is nothing wrong with Charlotte for the game when the right teams are there.

Championship games have problems selling tickets unless the participating teams are less then 250 miles from the venue.
Duke and WF will never sell tickets, even if the game is played in their own stadiums.
Otherwise, just find a location that is within 250 miles of BC, Syracuse, Pitt, L-ville, VA Tech, UVA, UNC, NCST, CU, GT, FSU, and Miami and you will have your solution.

If you aligned the Divisions North and South
South:
Miami, FSU, GT, CU, NCST, UNC, Duke
North:
BC, Syracuse, Pitt, L-ville, UVA, VA Tech, WF.
On even years the venue would be Jacksonville, FL.
on odd years the venue would be Pittsburgh, PA.
This would help ensure that at least one participate is within 250 miles of the venue.

if you get Duke vs BC or something really weird like that then you have a problem(but that would be a problem anywhere) but the locals are doing a good job in Charlotte showing even with some crappy weather conditions at times over the last few years--
Tampa was like 45-50 degrees when Clemson went a few years back and CU vs GT had a far worse turnout than FSU vs. DUke in CLT.
