Don't get me wrong. That's precisely what I'm hoping for. But I'm in the "Let's be quiet before the game so we can go crazy during and after the beatdown" crowd.
That was one of my favorite things about Danny Ford. The only thing you got out of him before a game was talk about what an effort it was going to take for his youngsters to just stay on the field with this weekend's opponent. And he said THAT about schools like Wofford and Furman. Then Saturday would roll around and, more often than not, we would go out and stomp a mudhole in the ground beneath whoever we were playing.
I reckon I have PTSD from all the positive pre-game talk the last three seasons that either turned into nail biters or outright losses.
Oh well, Go Tigers!!

Remember this team has only shown us two faces. One bad, one good.
Who knows which face we see this Saturday. Until they string two or three good performances together, every game is a question mark for me. Especially against teams that beat us just one year ago.

Dabo and the coaches are saying we are going to blow NC State out? Dabo usually acts like the team (whoever it is) we are playing are the second coming of the 80s Niners. Unless you’ve heard that from coaches (doubtful) all this other talk is coming from nobodies.

There has just been too much eye candy in the media this week about Clemson potentially burying State. I'm hoping it has no effect on the team but it could.
And I was just reminiscing about that way Danny could downplay his team's chances without saying he had a bad team. He raised it to an art. He did such a good job before we played Penn State in a late 80's bowl that he completely sucked Joe Paterno in. Had Paterno whining to the media about how Penn State might have deserved a better quality opponent. Then we proceeded to humiliate him.

Agreed! I'm excited but we need to pump the brakes! Laid an egg against a great team & blew out a mediocre one! Say what u will, but App's secondary was poor!! I was happy to see the offensive explosion but let's do it against a quality (not great) team like Nancy St

I agree with this. Sometimes bye weeks come at very bad times. After the APP State performance, I wish we had played another solid opponent.
I am not like so many others on App though. When your recent history has you going to Texas A&M and winning. And going to SCAR and winning - "you're no slouch to blow out"!

I will take my orange glasses off and be objective. We royally sucked one game then we played the best game in modern Clemson history the next game. At this point, I am not comfortable predicting a spread cover, much less a blow out.

NC State has not played well against a quality opponent. TN blew them out. La Tech's first half held them without a TD. Does that mean we will do it, no. If the defense shows up, (and I believe they are better than La. Tech) we should pull away in the 2nd half. Four or more explosive plays by NC State and we could be in trouble.
The offense just needs to grind it out. Three or more explosive plays and we will win.

Social media has changed a lot of our info that we get about recruiting and opponents. We’d get a lot in print normally very close to game day. Then radio commentators gave us info by at least Tuesday before the game. Now, it’s instant info that we can use to talk trash, which ain’t too smart. I don’t like trash talk regardless but we shouldn’t do it while we’re strapping on the pads. If you’re gonna do it, wait til you’re taking the pads off. Still, win but stay humble Tigers!!

Shouldn't matter what the "talk" is as long as the coaches and players know how to respond. Whether we talk positive or negative about any game, its still up to them.....we've obviously seen the explosive plays are there if they gel and execute as a team on a more consistent basis.

Our offense showed a pulse for probably only the second or third time in the last 3 years last weekend. I’m not ready to hear or say anything about blowing anyone out - ESPECIALLY not nc state. They have had our number too many times recently.

Agree. App State defense looked horrible. Maybe our offense has not come as far as we thought. I always liked Ford’s approach. Never a peep from him or his team or the fans about how great we were. It’s the wrong approach to talk about blow outs and stomping someone in the ground. Whoever makes these statements never played sports.

I just don’t get these kinds of posts.
I would certainly agree if the team (players & coaches) were talking about blowing NC State out. But they have not to my knowledge
So you’re talking out fans and or the media. Fans are gonna fan, and who cares what the media says. Whatever anyone says here has exactly nothing to do with how the game turns out
For fans, many tempered expectations a bit after seeing App St play. I still expect a comfortable win, maybe a closer score due to Dabo playing everyone including the water boy…. But if not don’t think it’s coz I made this post
