ACC Grant of Rights. I guess I am going to expose my ignorance, but, if I

interpret an earlier article on this site today, one comment said that the reason Clemson is suing the ACC is so we can have access to the terms of the Grant of Rights. I am not a multimillionaire but I am “comfortable” in my retirement. I never in my business career signed any document without knowing I could have a copy of it if so desired.

How did the presidents of all ACC institutions sign the Grant of Rights document without being assured of a copy?

What am I missing?

The thought was that if the contract stayed at headquarters then it couldn’t be “FOIA’ed”.

It's not a government document.

It's not as unusual as you are assuming. The other conferences don't have copies of their GOR or TV contracts either.

Like Pelosi said, you have to pass it to know what is in it or something.

I believe they read it at ACC HQ, signed it but did not get a copy. My guess is they had an ACC lawyer explain what was in it. At that time, everyone thought it was a good thing as Merryland had just left and we were trying to keep the conference together. This was before the SEC and B1G had started poaching so we were fearful of having nowhere to go. I believe the term is presentism where a person judges past events based on what is known today instead of what was known at the time.
