BC has held their own against the other ACC teams.

They get no respect on this board, but they still seem to win. MD, UNC, Duke, Wake and UVA are the teams dragging the ACC down the tubes.

Couldn't you say that about any conference's sub-.500 teams?

Also, Virginia, sitting as the conference's 7th best team, isn't "dragging the ACC down the tubes" any more so than Miami.

Virginia has been a loadstone since the ACC was formed.***

Miami did win a NC just before joining the ACC. I see your point, but not a worthy comparison overall.

You can say any team is dragging the ACC down based

on the above graph except maybe Duke with a 10% win percentage. The #11 ranked program is winning almost 40% of the time. That's (oh no...don't say it...) parity.
Key out-of-conference games (Florida/Florida State, Clemson/South Carolina, Georgia/Georgia Tech, etc) and bowl games are where conferences differentiate themselves. Our reputation stems from our weaker bowl performance, especially in the BCS.

Amazingly, unc is 29-35 since 2004, cheated like gamecocks

and got 3 years probation.
Fired their coach. Replaced the AD. Now, a criminal investigation is ongoing into academic fraud.
All that for 29-35 in the ACC. Pathetic.

Our Issues are pretty obvious looking at this.

3-4 vs. BC 2-7 vs. GT
We need to do better there.
For the ACC in general FSU at #4, Miami at #6, and NCSU and UMD at 10/11 is no good. They should all be doing better than that.

Looking at Divisions
Jun 6, 2012, 4:26 PM
|
|
Atlantic #3 Clemson #4 FSU #5 BC #9 WF #10 NCSU #11 UMD
Coastal (average: #1 VT #2 GT #6 Miami #7 UVa #8 UNC #12 Duke
Its interesting that we have the highest win% in our division, but have only made the championship game once in 8 years.

That one doesn't count though remember
Good call though.
As much as BC gets trashed here, its interesting that BC, Clemson, and FSU all have won the division twice.

Suprised no one has commented about us being 2-7 vs GT

Pathetic and disgraceful. PJ was a terrible hire and we should never lose to them. He might be a great coach but you can't recruit with that system and they will never beat elite teams. It's really sad we couldn't take advantage with the super-power Florida schools going down the tubes and the other ACC programs mired in mediocrity. Instead, we floundered with TB and are now playing a great experiment with Dabo. I hope it works out for us because earning national respect is an uphill battle in the ACC and with the recent financial disadvantages becoming all the more clear it's only getting steeper by the minute.

That guy has won a lot of games for them and GT will never be a recruiting powerhouse. I hate watching them play, but the guy knows how to win football games.

that system and until they get away from the TO or I see definitive evidence to suggest the other factors (recruiting disadvantage) aren't insurmountable I will maintain the position that he was a bad hire.
Hiring Paul Johnson is like saying "We're OK with winning most of our games, but we know we'll never be elite". When good teams/coaches have ample time to prepare, they shut down or at least greatly diminish the effectiveness of that system. I haven't seen anything to the contrary at this point. Unfortunately, we haven't had either of those things for awhile now and that's why we keep losing to them.
