Sep 9, 2012, 5:17 PM

raid is scheduled to be on 60 Minutes tonight.

I received the book a few days ago. But haven't started it yet.

Lone survivor set the standard but it's pretty good.

Lone survivor and American sniper. i didnt care for Sniper. Too much me, me, me for my taste. The family aspect was a different take though.

Owen took great pains to be vague in many aspects. There is NO mention of family or even real names of teammates. It's a good read.

just finished it last night and I have to agree.

Good read and vauge and sensitive where it needed to be. I think it was written well with the general public as the intended audience.

I may have to look into some of these other books mentioned here.

Would like to read the book

but so far in the 60 min interview I haven't heard anything that would be considered top secret information. Sure the book goes into more detail though.

Absolutely fascinating

I understand that it comes with the territory of journalism but several of the questions asked rubbed me the wrong way. Did they celebrate and high five each other once they realized they had shot Bin Laden? Really?

You're one of the most specialized troops in a foreign country, unannounced, on a time limit for a mission that's roughly improvised after a helicopter crash and there are people out there who think it's time to crack open a beer and cheer on site?

I understand the sentiments and reasons for both sides but I'll be curious to see how the stand-off with the Pentagon goes since the Seal's essentially in breach of contract by publishing without clearing it through the proper channels first. Overall though, I was really impressed. I understand it's part of a marketing plan for the book but it really makes you want to pick up a copy and start reading right away.

I got it last week.

I read a third of it in one sitting. That says a lot because I'm not much of a book reader anymore. So far, so good. It's not overly technical and reads easy. I'll probably pick it up again this week and finish it.
