A&M looked GREAT vs Tex St

Sep 5, 2019, 2:32 AM

And who wouldn't. But to watch highlights & hear analysts, you'd think the Aggies had carved up Bama, UGA or LSU.

Tex St has been an FBS team since 2012. One year in the WAC - in the Sunbelt since 2013. That game vs TAMU? The 1st under new Tex St HC Jake Spivital. In 2013, Tex St was 6&6 - no bowl. In '14 - 7&5 & the only bowl eligible team NOT to get an invite.

In 2018, Tex St won 3 games. Of the 3 wins, NM St had the best record - 3&9. The 2 other wins were against FCS team Tex Southern (2&9) & Sunbelt team GA St. That one was a battle of the Sunbelt cellar-dwellers - Tex St in the West & GA St in the East.

Tex St's record in 2018:
Lost to Rutgers (1&11) - 35-7
Won vs Tex So (FCS, 2&9) - 36-20
Lost to S.Alab (3&9) - 41-31
Lost to UTSA (3&9) - 25-21
Lost to La Lafay (7&7) - 42-27
Lost to GA So (10&3) - 15-13
Lost to La Mon (6&6) - 20-14
Won vs NM St (3&9) - 27-20
Won vs GA St (2&10) - 40-31
Lost to App St (11&2) - 38-7
Lost to Troy (10&3) - 12-7
Lost to Ark St (8&5) - 33-7

If we're to compare last year to this year, we could conclude, based on comparison scores, that TAMU is about as good as Rutgers & App St were last year - facing Tex St.

THAT's who CU plays this Sat - the team that looked like world beaters last week vs Tex St. I ask - who wouldn't?

I’d probably add Ole Miss, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt to that list... but that’s all! :)

And if Dabo used your criteria, well I'm just glad your not because you left out the "X " factor;Jimbo Fisher.
I really don't care who A&M played last weekend. Jimbo isn't coming to Clemson for just a paycheck,he's coming in looking to walk away with a win, and if Dabo uses your stats, that's exactly what he will get.
Dabo is preparing for A&M, not Tex.St.

Watched the game last night. Did see anything that scared me. The Texas State QB threw like 4 million INTs. He was gunslinging because they were going to lose and his WRs were consistently open. He just couldn’t hit them. Mond is a threat but he is basically a Juggs machine with legs. Likes the designed or pre-snap read most of the time and especially if he can throw it underneath the defense as he has good arm strength and accuracy. Jimbo will put him in good positions throughout the game but their scoring will be sporadic as Coach V will throw counter punches of his own. I see something like a 24 point ceiling for them and Mond will have to do it all. Expect Trevor to have a good game after we break it open in the 2nd quarter.
