He's a mentally ill elderly psycho...

In his first presidency, he was already pushing hard against American democracy. When he got beat fair and square, he's now set out on path of vengeance. He surrounds himself with terrible people who would come up with wild ideas and he'd get behind them.
I don't take much stock in what Whoopi has to say, but it's not outrageous to think Trump will move to imprison people he simply doesn't like or who opposed him as an act of revenge.
I don't think he'll do it to gay people because Trump is actually a fake conservative who doesn't have a problem with them.

Conservative doesn't equal anti-gay, BUT...being Evangelical almost invariably equals being conservative, and being Evangelical is invariably anti-gay. What percent of the GOP voting bloc are Evangelicals?
Spoiler: 24% of Americans identify as Evangelical, so that means likely over half of the GOP is...wait for it...anti-gay.

How much can be debated. Certainly all conservatives are not anti-gay. Even some gays may be conservative.

Trump says and does enough dumb cringeworthy things that one would think the left wouldn't have to constantly make up stuff out of thin air to smear him with.

I have tried really hard to forget. Still embarrassed that he was able to be elected.

His mental state has changed a lot in the last 3 years.

He’s spewing much more hateful, vengeful rhetoric, and unfathomably has become significantly more deranged. Also last time he appointed people to positions based on recommendations from others. This time around he will fill those high positions exclusively with people that will do whatever he says. The checks and balances won’t be there nearly as much as the last go around.
I think we have enough checks and balances to still have a democracy when he leaves office, but his aspiration if he wins is to become a dictator. He already claimed he can ignore the constitution after all.

So has the GOP base of voters. Trump is giving them what they want to hear

and they are lapping it up. Nobody in the Republican Party who has a political future will stand up to Trump. They are afraid of him and the GOP base.
The GOP has a voter problem and a leadership problem to go along with their Trump problem.

and now the MAGA base is holding the party hostage. You would have thought after the last congressional elections that the party would have tossed the clown aside after so much losing, but they doubled down on him.

Yeah, all of those blacks and Latinos who recently started wearing the MAGA hats are holding the Republican Party hostage.
