Those who are good at their craft seldom make lateral moves. That leaves Clemson looking for a unicorn, someone like Brent who has taken insult to injury if we're shopping for someone already holding a DC position but with no desire for a head coaching job.

No, I'm not ignoring the fact that Dabo has trained several coordinators and they've become head coaches or that his methodology is attractive to a number of candidates who want to learn in their craft or be a head coach.

Many of the best DCs are waiting on offers to head coach. They are automatically eliminated from candidacy.

I suspect our new DC will be young, very aware of the opportunity to make a showing of his skill and ready to grow. Therefor, I do not believe Dabo's selection will satisfy those who have been calling for Wes' firing this season.

Frankly, I expect to find the tears delicious.

Being young doesn't really bother me all that much, but he needs to have at least 8-10 years of coaching experience on the field with the players, if not I don't care who they are they will fail as a DC!!!

I was shocked when some guy named Dabo was "given" the HC job. I know he's had a couple of own hires that were leaps that didn't workout but I'll never doubt him. I might be disappointed in whoever he picks but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Personally, I'm on the Jim Leonhard bus but we'll see. Nothing would shock me.

I would not be surprised if you see more Chip Kelly type moves. Some of these older guys (not ready to hang it up but old enough to know “the good ol’ days”) probably just want to coach ball and not be a negotiator and deal maker.
