disease these days. This rise in numbers of these has GOT to be tied to something that was added (or subtracted) from our diets years ago. That may sound like a conspiracy theory, but I firmly believe it. Either it's a chemical or specific combination of chemicals, maybe used in fertilizer, weed killers, etc that first came into vogue about 40 years ago, and the cummulative effect of all that long term exposure is just now being felt, or it was something that was REMOVED from our everyday diets. (Bacon bacon bacon?)
If that is the case, things are going to get a whole lot worse in the next few years on these fronts. Maybe research will gear up, and somehow a valid treatment will come down the pike that could possibly reverse these scourges, or at the very least halt further advance once a diagnosis is made. As the old commercials said, A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste.

We used to throw all of these people into psychiatric hospitals. Can’t do it now. They were always there.

Add autism to the list. My answer would be chinese made toys, utensils, cups, etc. Look at the spikes after we started buying EVERYTHING from them.

Even back when about everything was painted with lead base paint, we didn't hear about all the cases of autism that we hear about today. I know that the bigger the population, the more there will be, but the baby boomers had a lot more kids than parents have today, and the autism rate seems awful high in today's society!!!

Exactly what I was going to post! Humans consume pounds of plastics every year from packaging, bottled drinks, to micro-plastics in our foods. Even whales are pooping out clumps of plastics that get bound in their guts nowadays. 3rd world countries just throw their trash in rivers as they dont have landfills and it goes straight into other population uses or the ocean.
No end in sight. The bio plastics from corn could help with this problem if it was pushed and better for environment than electric cars.

Always felt the preservatives of all the stuff we buy in the grocery store, excluding the outer walls such as produce, meats and dairy, are poison. But dang that’s a lot of good snack foods.
Also some medical guru on here may be able to tell us if the vaccines we had as kids were different than the previous couple of generations. Always been curious in regards to those. Seems kids are sickly these days in comparison to when I was in school.
I’m with you it seems to be pretty bad and I have seen what I would consider smart people get it as well. Sad and hoping I don’t go that way but at my age and the forgetfulness I currently deal with it seems it could be in my future.

However the grocery store prices are making it real easy to pass on those good snack foods. Almost 5 bucks for a bag of Lay's potato chips today and it's not even the family size.

Keep in mind that we are living longer and many other causes of early death such as heart failure (to some degree), bacterial and viral disease, some cancer, etc., are not taking as many of us at a younger age.
There's no easy answer to any of these. Glad folks smarter than me are doing the research to try to control these. Just lost my mother-in-law to dementia of some sort in December and watching her decline over several years was painful.

Same with my mother In Law before she died, everything she said come from her childhood memory, and it was really sad to watch, and I was the one that took care of her every day for her last 6 months of life. I was the one that had to tell her kids to not try and correct her about what she would say bc she really didn't know that her mind had taken her back to her early years of life. To her everything she said was in the now...
I'll tell ya that I truly loved that old woman, and there were days that it crushed my heart to see and hear how Dementia had taken over her mind. I'm pretty sure my tears rolled across my cheeks every day while taking care of her...

They have come a long way with fixing what use to strike down people in an instant, and that was heart attacks. Heart attack killed my dad at the age of 46 or 47. Now if they find heart disease soon enough, you can live 2, 3 times longer, also with high blood pressure....

As to what is in our food, my daughter has a strong, not extreme, reaction to glutton. She just returned from a trip to Europe which saw he able to eat whatever she chose. Makes one wonder.

It's bc of all the preservative chemicals that the government FDA people are approving to put in everything that we eat so that it will have a longer shelf life. You never ever heard of all these sicknesses that we get today. I believe they allow this BS for population control!!!

On the bright side, there is a new antibody treatment that targets the amyloid plaques. The initial problem with it is getting the treatment to penetrant the blood-brain barrier. But more good news, a sharp doctor has a new ultrasound co-treatment to cause temporary permeability of the BB barrier. This double barreled approach may be the cure we've been longing for.
FYI Azh got my dad.

Lost a neighbor to it this month.
I believe the rise is a combination of many things the above have posted (or maybe just one). I don't know. No one knows much as to it, so a guess is just a guess.
Bruce Willis is the poster child for it lately.
One day on the way to work saw a woman walking near CPCC in her house coat. I gathered her up and took her to my office. Lovely grandmother type, excellent woman, very sharp. I called the numbers, but could not reach her husband.
Eventually discovered she had walked away from a care facility. She was as normal as me, but her brain was in the past. It all made me very sad as all she wanted was to go home.

I'm a huge believer that processed foods are one of the biggest store bought crap to give it a longer shelf life that is tearing our health down.
Also, I read an article about Aflatoxin is being found in pet food that is deadly for our pets!!!

Just entered my mother into a hospice facility on Tuesday. She’s been suffering through it for years. A horrible thing to witness a loved one decline from this as well as the toll it takes on the caregivers.
I think certain individuals are genetically predisposed to develop it, but I also believe diet, especially excess sugar consumption may play a huge roll.

My aunt is battling early-stage Alzheimer's, and watching the change over time has been tough. I agree with many here, it's likely not just one thing, but a mix: longer life spans, dietary changes, environmental exposure, and genetics.
One thing that caught my attention recently is how inflammation might be a common factor behind many of these conditions, including dementia. Some people have been turning to cannabis to help manage inflammation. I've been reading up on some Supreme cbd oil reviews, a medical cannabis clinic, and it's interesting how many report better sleep, less anxiety, and even improved clarity. Not saying it's a cure, but if it helps support the body naturally, it's worth a look.

Maybe it's all of the plastics we eat? It probably just some poison due to us eating everything that has additives that could be harmful. Also, maybe technology has made it so we don't have to use our brains as much? Maybe?

Went through it with my dad. Hard disease to watch progress.
I will add that people used to take care of elderly parents more. Now it's mostly nursing homes. I think that also led to a rise in the statistics. Know of two friends grandparents that I would say probably had it, but went undiagnosed before they died. They both lived and were taken care of by their daughters family.

in the population not our diets. While that may contribute to it some, say mercury in our fish, it is not the main cause. Stating we eliminated something from our diets in the last, say 50, years is a bit of a nonsequitur because the average life expectancy has increased by over 15 years during that time, and we have a far more diverse diet availabel to us now than just 25 years ago..

I just responding to data that says we have a higher percentage of the population afflicted with these diseases and the FACT that we have a much higher percentage of the population that are at an age to suffer from said disease. That is the main correlation, you can look it up for yourself, I already did.
Most of you are guessing and peddling conspiracies. If you want to look at food-related diseases, I think diabetes and obesity are a much better place to start, these are diseases afflicting young people. Also look at the rate increases globally, and you will notice little variance, and in fact easy asia has he highest density, but again it is mreo to do with ageing populations.
this is not hard, search engines are your friend.

High fructose corn syrup was added to our food supply in the 1970s.

I would start there.
Of course we also have synthetic dyes, pesticides, herbicides, trans fats, artificial sweeteners, etc., all of which do nothing good for our bodies and almost certainly cause harm.
This is a big reason why we are seeing so much chronic disease today.

High fructose corn syrup is sugar. Nothing more. It is made from corn instead of sugar cane or beets. It is not the boogeyman a lot of influencers are trying to make it out to be. I would be a lot more suspicious of the artificial dyes and sweeteners.

My Mom died of acute dementia and I have a grandson with autism. There wasn't anything they could do for my Mom but my grandson started therapy and classes early. The early intervention made a huge difference. He is a die hard Tiger fan, graduated HS, works part time, and is going to college for a cyber security degree.
Last week, RFK, Jr said by September this year, we will know the cause of autism. We'll see what he comes up with.

RFK jr does not have a medical degree, nor has he ever practiced medicine. Any "scientist" making bolds claim like this is either on the brink of discovery or more likely just full of it. Going by his track record of pseudo-science and vaxx nonsense, I think the latter is more likely.

It doesn't take a medical degree to figure out what the likely culprits are!
1
1
Apr 15, 2025, 7:58 PM

And many of those folks with medical degrees have contributed to the problem over the years! Like the two Harvard researchers who accepted bribes from the sugar industry to falsify research results, that implicated processed sugar as a major cause of heart disease! Instead they falsely blamed saturated fats and cholesterol!
This has only come to light in the last few years!
In my opinion, seed oils and sugary soft drinks should carry warning label similar to those on cigarettes!

If you'll take a minute to think about it, you'll realize that someone like Bobby Kennedy (who's life has been greatly affected by the Medical Mafia/Big Pharma/or however you choose to describe it) is the PERFECT person to lead this charge.
Big Pharma and Big Medicine have one goal and one goal only...$$$$$$$$$.
It is going to take an honest and responsible human being, with love for humankind and an understanding of what he's up against, to remediate this problem.
It will not be solved by Big Pharma or the Medical Mafia.
But it might be solved by HumanKind... I pray that it will.
I pray that it will...

RFK jr does not have a medical degree, nor has he ever practiced medicine. Any "scientist" making bolds claim like this is either on the brink of discovery or more likely just full of it. Going by his track record of pseudo-science and vaxx nonsense, I think the latter is more likely.
hth
You're hatred for all things truthful must contribute to your dyslexia and phobia of the moderate or right opinions. Where did you hear or why do you think RFK, Jr is the person determining what is causing autism? There are many doctors and researchers involved. I wasn't a degreed engineer but engineers worked for me.

I know you are just trying to sound cool and all, but there are many peer reviewed studies showing harmful side effects from cell phones. There are also many that show no harmful side effects. So with conflicting data I don’t think anyone can be 100% certain, at least not at this point. But go ahead and make yourself feel better calling everyone concerned conspiracy theorists. Doesn’t really matter at the end of the day

April of 2025 and not ONE of these responses (as far as I saw) said one word about the Covid 19 mRNA (fake) vaccine. Are you kidding me?
There is ample evidence to begin "Nuremburg style" trials against Anthony Fauci, the CDC, the FDA, the WHO, as well as the WEF, the AMA, the NHI, the US Government and anyone else who acted to intice citizens of the world to fall prey to the scam. The vaccine (that the US used) was NEVER actually approved by the FDA and has now been proven in studies to "increase the risk" of being infected with the Covid-19 Virus. That is the CO(rona) V(irus) ID-(20)19.
Hence, Covid-19.
Though the virus was developed in a lab in Wuhan, China, paid for by USA Gain-of-function research, the "virus" was not the Holy Grail. The Holy Grail was/is the mRNA (fake) vaccine. This is what is killing people, causing heart problems, strokes, miocarditis, pericarditis, rampant and 'turbo' cancers, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, blood clots galore, infertility problems and on and on and on.
Duh.I mean Duh.
Alright, I'm off my soap box for now.
For now.
Go Tigers!

Hurricaneduane - 87.63% of what just posted is flat out wrong, unless you get your news and information from Fox “News” and Facebook.
You should be thrilled you live in a country with Dr Fauci and others like him that have spent their careers in public health instead of building bankrupt casinos and launching fraudulent universities.

In fact, I'm looking for some new conspiracy theories.

The Covid post is tangential to the ones concerning Alheimer's and dementia but valid nonetheless. Fauci should've been executed long ago.

Years ago, the average age was 40 or 50 depending on the year. They died from simple things like an infection from a tooth or VD. Over the years medicine improved so the average life expectancy increased. Since we are all going to die of something, the causes continually change. There may be choices which increase or decrease the chances of having the issues you named, there is no reason to believe the root cause is anything other than longevity. No one is getting out alive.

Generations ago, people spent more time outside, whether working on a farm, doing home construction or other physical labor, or cooling off on a hot summer’s day. There were fewer barriers between the human body and earth’s natural surface—less thick-soled and synthetic shoes, layers of clothing, and time spent indoors, out of the sun and fresh air and its rejuvenating properties.
Grounding practitioners widely believe that this lack of contact between our bodies and the earth’s natural surface leads to a host of health issues, from depression to cardiovascular disease.

A neighbor died from it, drs thought it was long COVID related. It also disguised itself with his back problems. He was in his 70's. They diagnosed it and within 2 weeks he was gone.
Another neighbor, late 50's, has it now.

There’s no doubt. I have a degree in psychology and many studies show that people affected with these diseases have an extremely high content of aluminum in their brains. Think about it, aluminum cans, aluminum cookware, aluminum thermos, aluminum in yetis and other insulated tumblers. There’s also a strong correlation between micro plastics and these diseases. Many things we ingest touch aluminum or plastic or both. We are what we eat.
There’s also a strong correlation with chemicals placed in livestock before slaughter and these diseases. Many of these penetrate the blood brain barrier. Eat only organic if you can!
I’ve lost too many loved ones to these diseases. Hopefully we find the cures soon!

Nicotine is good for you, one of the most studied supplements ever. It has tons of cognitive benefits and helps prevent Alzheimer’s. The issue is always the delivery mechanism, if you chew gum, use the pouches or a lozenge… those are safe ways to ingest nicotine.

It is really sad and a terrible disease. I own an in-home care franchise here in the Greenville-Spartanburg area and everyday we help many people with these diseases. The saddest part is there is no cure, so families, including my own, must watch our loved ones erode into someone who doesn’t know us.

many other things. Start with exposure to radiation frequencies everywhere, phones, TV's, jet travel, etc. The REM's we get now are way higher than say, 150 years ago. Or, many other dietary and environmental vectors of our modernized world. Or: the genetic engineering that's been put in place on all fronts. We keep offsetting with advances in medical and technology, so it's kind of zero sum. Still, get "80 years if we're lucky" (Biblical reference there) So, you're probably right.

The genetic changes to crops to mitigate disease in the plants grown, coupled with the pesticides oversprayed on growing crops, has had an impact! Only time and dutiful attention will offer a change for the better! C'est la vie!

After trying to read all the comments, it amounts to "modern life" is killing us be it with: additives in our food/drink, vaccines, chemicals in the environment, video screens...Many of which are spearheaded by the medical/pharm establishment. Did I miss anything? Good Lord...look there may be a little truth to all of this, but #### when it leads you to appoint a lunatic like RFK Jr to be our national health figurehead then we have truly gone insane.
