To Do List
To Do List I can't wait for Saturday and another beautiful Homecoming at Clemson. The weather should be spectacular and night games in Death Valley are always a treat.
Here are ten things I would like to see Saturday night: No Injuries The offense has been decimated by injuries

This I agree with wholeheartedly - faster pace for Cole

"less thinking and more reacting" however I do not agree it was Cole's "thinking", I think it was Chad's stopping the play causing confusion in Cole's mind. The reason he is better at fast pace is that Cole is a quick thinker? I may be wrong, however I think most will agree he runs the team better in a "2 minute" drill. Thanks for your "To do List" Mickey - mostly excellent!

The Chad Morris spread, much like what Ole Miss and Auburn run (SEC schools that run "the spread" too so don't knock it) is all about steady tempo. It is design to give the offense more chances. I see Stoudt more as Peyton Manning if he was #18 wearing green (Philly, Chip Kelly, also a version of "spread" the pro version). The only difference is Stoudt can run a little bit. Anyway, if he can go at a consistent pace and know what is next before the defense is set, it makes the other team settle for a base D. Not much they can do from that with our talent.
One more thing, I see ya Chad. Had Cole under center a few times there @BC. Our running game could benefit from just doing that.

Speed Up!

I've screamed this at the TV every game Cole has played. The coaches are getting this wrong with him. They don't need to take the time to get into the best play, they need the break neck pace to give him an advantage. Get him in a good play and don't let the defense get settled. The excuse is that you can't go fast without positive plays is just that, an excuse. Oregon and other fast break teams go just as fast on incomplete passes and stopped runs and our D is good enough to absorb a couple of quick drives.

A matter of confidence

If the coaches are not confident that the chains will move, they try to shorten the game and keep the defensive advantage. But maybe the quick pace is what Cole needs. Ever the optimist, I think his play will improve now that he has some experience. And with our depth on defense, we absolutely should be able to pick up the pace on offense.
