Deflated balls may not have changed outcome of Colts/Patriots games BUT

Jan 22, 2015, 10:24 AM

what about the close wins that the Patriots had this year?

With reports that the Colts actually filed a report about the Pats to the NFL back in November about deflated balls in that game as well, it doesn't take much sense to realize the Pats may have been doing it ALL year!

There were 3 wins this year by the Pats that were close games. If deflated balls helped them win those three games, what is your opinion about that?

I don't think those three games would've mattered much

Jan 22, 2015, 10:36 AM

The Pats more than likely would still make the playoffs. Plus a few more losses could've sent the Pats on the road to say the Colts, Ravens, Bengals etc. I do not believe any of those squads prove a problem. Just my thoughts...

Anything can happen on the road tho.

If true, then they should forfeit all games this season and not be allowed to play in the Super Bowl. That will stop the cheating coach and also suspend him for a year without pay.

A deflated ball is easier for a RB to hold on to

Jan 22, 2015, 6:23 PM

Patriots' RBs had 0 fumbles all year..

The issue here isn't the outcome of the game against Indy...

Jan 22, 2015, 6:47 PM

it's that NE has been caught cheating before, and now they have been caught again. Let's say the outcome was a close game, then it would be a possibility that it would have played a factor in the game. Just because Indy didn't have the overall talent to keep up with NE, doesn't change the fact that NE was trying gain a competitive advantage through breaking the rules.

Also, Josh McDaniels is back at NE. The same videographer that got busted for Spygate, followed McDaniels to Denver for his short stint as head coach. That videographer got caught again, and was banned permanently from the NFL.

Doubt the Patriots will get punished. Roger Goodell is a massive hypocrite. And the NFL made sure to destroy the tape of the 2001 St Louis Rams last walk thru practice before the Super Bowl, a walk thru practice that NE taped.

Re: The issue here isn't the outcome of the game against Indy...

Jan 22, 2015, 6:54 PM

Valid points.

My OP was more along the lines of the close games they've won because so many are only using the Indy blowout game. Yeah, Maybe it didn't help them in that game; but it certainly helped them in the close games.

And if it helped them in the close games, it helped them secure home field advantage etc...something they shouldn't have had..

Do you think all these people on here defending the Patriots would be defending the Cowboys had it been the Cowboys doing this?

Or how about if we found out that Florida State did it to us? Would they be "ok" with that?

In my opinion, cheating is cheating. Get caught, pay the penalty

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed, tired of hearing about the score of the game...

Jan 22, 2015, 7:06 PM

in relation to the cheating issue. Injuries to Leveon Bell on Pittsburgh, and Peyton Manning on the Broncos, helped pave the way for NE playing an easier team in the AFC title game.

A lot of NFL QBs want their footballs a certain way

Jan 22, 2015, 9:11 PM

Brad Johnson, the Bucs QB in Super Bowl XXXVII, admitted that he paid $7500 to have the footballs altered. QBs all want what they want.
