A Longhorn's take: UGA got HOSED.

Sorry. Cant say that with a straight face. A non-conference champ shouldnt be in.

It is clesr FSU got a little bit shorted and slighted. Mighty ACC champs and all.

OTOH, seems to me Loovul was FSU's chance to show the committee they *deserved* a shot despite losing their engine Travis. But they BLEW it.

And Loovool was positively pallid. Just utterly lifeless. Which hurt FSU even more.

Sad what's happening to the ACC, tho. Just the complete lack of respect from all the other conferences and the committee. It's got to be rough.

Hook 'Em! BTHOO the flea bags.

See y'all next season. CATI out.

Rrrightt.

Loovul was their chance, no other games mattered.

And shutting down Loovul’s offense and winning by two possessions just wasn’t good enough.

Loovul was no more pallid than Okie St.

Lville has a weak defense but a legit offense. FSU’s defense whipped Lville’s offense the way a man with a club beats a baby seal.

TX, on the other hand, played a defenseless OK State team. OK State’s offense was overrated, beating the numerous Big 12 patsies with big numbers.

TX simply isn’t that good. Big 12 is no better conference than ACC.

No question … FSU belonged in CFP while TX stayed home and eats Cheetos.

You still cant put two one loss teams ahead of an undefeated P5 champ. Cant happen. Especially jumping a team from 8th that, by every right, should have lost the previous week to a .500 team, all the way into the top 4. Its a complete joke.

The committee was intent on choosing Bama because the world would come to an end without an SEC team in the CFP. That meant the team that beat them would have to be chosen as well--especially since they will be competing as an SEC member very soon.

I mean, most conferences, anyway. The ACC's not really in the conference realignment game, but, a few of the teams that make up the BXII have seen a lot of success through the years. OU being among them. Texas won a title back in 2005. That was a good year.

I say "back in 2005" without being self-conscious because I read so many CU fans saying "back in 2018 (or earlier)..." when referring to the ACC's run of dominance. Which was really just CU's run of dominance. Which, like the BXII, is clearly in the rearview mirror.

But now that we're headed to the SEC, it'll be fun to on a consistent basis see how we can do against the Bama's and UGA's of the world.

We're also aware that we're Texas. We pull a huge draft, so the target's always bigger and the critics are always louder.

Don't get me wrong, I love Clemson given my ties to the place. But nobody really worries about Clemson except maybe Finebalm and the irrelevant UofSC.

Otherwise it's "Clemson won? Good for them! Clemson lost? Aw. Sad. Where's Clemson again?"

Does anyone worry about Texas? Has anyone really worried about Texas in the past half century outside of 2005? Even in the peak years under Mack, they always played second fiddle to Stoops and OU, but outside of the running joke of "Texas is back", they've been not much more than an afterthought. I know in the minds of Texas fans, they're peers are Bama, Ohio State, Georgia, etc., but that hasn't been the case since Royal left. That tends to happen when your program has more losing seasons in that time frame than conference championships, which, for Texas is 10 losing seasons to 9 conference championships. Don't get me wrong, yall are really good at making money, just not much else. Good luck in the playoffs, but I think Washington is a far more complete team and far more battle tested.

FSU is a tired brand. They may capture some of that old vibe in a year or two with a big win against a huge opponent here or there (Clemson certainly has an opportunity to do same against UGA next year), but mostly they're an unknown.

Bama, Texas, Michigan all pull ratings. Washington I guess, does, but FSU would've been a snoozer pick especially after the Loovul bed soiling.

I think if Washington beats us, the ratings for the championship game plummet, regardless of whether it's Michigan or Bama.

But a Texas-Bama rematch would be historic from a ratings standpoint. The great state of Texas v. the football juggernaut of the past 50 years? An SEC upstart v. the SEC's premiere program?

Must-see TV.

FSU won 13 games including a game a Clemson they should have lost. But getting bumped from the CFP mostly due to QB issues is bad optics for college football. UT and UA played well this season. UA wouldn't be in CFP if not for a 4th and 31 "grave digger pass play. UT won conference championship against an outmatched OSU and lost to OU in an ugly turnover filled game. You should get CFP and lottery tickets today! It's sad or funny now, but next year UT is in the SEC. Poor ACC, right? Money rules so have fun in the SEC now. SEC-It's just different!

I got here by marrying a CU grad from a wealthy family that gives a lot of money both to the school and IPTAY. As a result, I get roped in to a lot of CU athletics and stuffy donor events where I have to wear CU clothes (occasionally depending on the event), and the like.

But it's been a pleasure -- Clemson's a great place and the atmosphere is fun. Great fan base. Maybe a little fraught at times like these when the world stops being about them, but usually fun.

I don't believe Texas will struggle too terribly in the SEC, given their performance against Bama and the state of the program, overall.

We've got plenty of money, Sark's really made a believer out of many of us, and to be back in the CFP is a crowning achievement. A great way to vault out of the tired old BXII into a new, exciting future.

I don’t think beating Louisville soundly would have changed anything. Once Bama beat UGA the committee had a problem on how to get an SEC team.l in. They either had to take 2 and see a major meltdown. Or take Texas over FSU and use Bama’s win over the longhorns to get Bama in. As soon as I saw Texas I knew FSU was out.

There’s no other logic that makes sense. FSU had better wins than Alabama and no losses. It was always about making sure the SEC had a team in the playoff.

UGA hosed themselves and the Noles. Had they won they would have been #1 seed. Texas would have been left out instead of FSU because they would have a loss. Committee could not leave out a 1 loss SEC Champ, therefore they could not leave out the 1 Loss Conference Champ that beat Bama.
Georgia Wins and it is 4 undefeated teams playing. As soon as there were not four teams without a loss, it opened up the whole thing.

Because why would someone not from Ohio claim Ohio?

OR is it "Clemson-O-hi-O-Tiger?" Which would just be clunky and lame.

When you're the No. 3 team in the nation, every other team save two are inferior opponents, so your question is pretty broad.

But yes, it's always a concern when a great team shows vulnerabilities against teams everyone knows they should beat. Clemson knows that feeling.

We gave the game to OU. Turnovers. Clemson knows that feeling.
Got soft in the middle v. Houston. But finished strong.

Washington will be a good test, although they struggled to beat us last year in the Alamo Bowl despite our not having Ewers, Bijon, or Johnson. And I believe our best WR was banged up.

We can't afford to do dumb things - Ewers can drive you crazy with that gunslinger mentality of his. He did it against the pokes who are just horrid - kicked the door open for them with a dumb INT.
