few observations

Two years ago: 1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high; 2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon; 3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet; 2) the cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4 a gallon; 3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase); 4) American households have seen $4.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses); 5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $2.2 trillion dollars; 6) 3% of American homes are in foreclosure.
Not to mention that US Troop withdrawal from Iraq never happened, as promised.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Facts? The sun clearly moves across the sky. Does that mean

then that sun rotates around the earth? No. The real facts are that the price of oil has been on the increase since we invaded Iraq. The real fact is that American gas prices 10 years ago were far too low for a country that imports most of it's energy needs. Instability in Africa, a category 5 hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico, (and subsequent mismanagement by the W. administration) lack of government oversight in financial markets, running up massive debt to China (to finance our illegal war in Iraq) are really more to blame than a Democratic Congress that doesn't have a veto-proof majority and has only been in office for two years. It will take decades to fix the havoc that Bush has unleashed on this country.

blame ultimately goes to him. If we win 8 games this year, nobody is going to go calling for Ron West's job. They're going to call for Tommy's job.
At this point I think most of the country would say you're defending the indefensible.

If there weren't, the original post wouldn't have 19 points. So I'm just kinda wondering if anyone can explain why they pointed the post. I assume it's because they believe there's a clear correlation between Dems taking Congress and all that other sh!t, yet nobody can cite a single example.
Also, you underestimate what people will waste their time on in the Lounge.

I think if you look at stats...which you obviously like to..
Jul 30, 2008, 2:47 PM

you'd see that republican administrations and congresses are historically on the wrong side of unemployment. I can't believe you thought Unemployment going up from 4.5% to 5.0% was a strong enough stat to include in your BS argument against democrats. Have you studied unemployment at all? What was it in the 70s and 80s? Is that all Carter's fault?
BTW, the senate has been in a stalemate because of partisanship and the requirement that you need 60/100 votes to pass things. So maybe it has been the fault republicans blocking changes, just as much as the democrats for not getting it done.
