our social studies teacher asked us to write down what we wanted to be when we grew up, and as she’s walking around the room she stops at the kid next to me and asks, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” The kid exclaims, “I want to be a rapper!” “Oh no, honey…rapper has two Ps!”

The girl in front of me and I legitimately laughed for 5 mins and instantly became best friends. 25 years later, and it’s still funny.

First grade teacher in one of my schools years ago asked the new class at the beginning of the year the same question with the explanation that it meant what job that they would like. Came to a little girl who said she didn't want a job - she wanted "to stay home and get a check" like her mama does.
