friends (yes, I do have some...I mean, I live in Columbia for Pete's sake, lol)...and I were discussing our school's differences, including their consistent football problems.
The general consensus was location, location, location. One said, "Y'all were smart, locating up in the boondocks away from Columbia. We're stuck in the middle of all the assssholes in the statehouse on Gervais Street!" Huge guffaws erupted.
But he was right, for politicians throughout its history have meddled and interferred in anything and everything about Carolina, including its name and its football. It never helped them for years that the state's largest newspaper sat right next door to the stadium with the longtime Sports Editor, Herman Helms, completely undaunted when it came to critiquing their sports' programs. I knew Helms very well, and he would have told someone like Steve Spurrier to kiss his asssss, then proceeded to drag him in the mud. They've even got the Governors of the state involved in their affairs and a BOT that only Satan himself could have conjured.
No Sir, they sure ain't Clemson, never will be, never could be! And I'll tell you one more thing: anyone is making a huge, old mistake if they think that Satan's creation...the Chicken Curse...is dead and gone, I've been around too long that I know for a fact that just when those poor folks think they are on a roll, that cursed varmint is gonna rear its ugly head, screech and scream: "I gotcha again, you frizzled-feathered, foolish, foul fowl of fowls!" WHOOP...THERE IT IS! God help them.,,,,...
