i would see old people living in Clemson and going to games just because of that year
then it happened again! the miracle. the what the whole society i grew up in idolized
for me it just means more

Since when has Dabo ever coached? His coordinators have made him successful. Now he is hiring bad coordinators. Frustrating. I’m not sold on Riley at all.

We had zero coaches on staff with P5 experience before Clemson last 2yrs to include a DC that has never been a coach. Now we have 1 P5 coach with GR but he only had 1yr of experience but at least coached on Championship team and coached the position he filled.
I dont think we are devoping players to their full potential. I think we need to get some P5 coaches to replace our WR coach, DC/LB, and our 2 HS coaches just as a start. I have concerns about RB recruiting as well as we should be able to bring in at least a top 10-15 type player every year. Gideon might make it there?

Not really. IMO Coaching is recruiting, onfield performance (fundamentals), player development, strength/conditioning and offensive/defensive scheme.

The portal is recruiting, in the sense that it is a way to bring players into the program, and that's ultimately up to the head coach. Using/not using/how it's used is all up to the HC and his assistants. But, you can categorize it however you want; the result is the same.

I respectfully disagree. Maybe you're referring to talent evaluation?? The portal is ALSO about NIL--and that is an entirely different deal. Clemson is waaaaay behind the 8 ball on that front. Look at what some of the others are doing and you'll see. Coaches aren't involved.

I think “coaching” is too broad of a term. Goodwin might be an amazing in-game coordinator making the right calls on every play, but if dudes can’t tackle, the defense looks bad, etc. Who is that on?
I think Venables leaving hurt more with teaching fundamentals than game planning or calls during the game. But I’m not at practice and never have been, so I can’t say what’s changed. I just see a basic lack of execution in many positions - certainly on offense too, so that comes down to coaching, but not necessarily “play calling” or game time decisions.
Seems like time for a change at WR coach at a minimum. Like many on here, I’m not a fan of the “friends become coaches” plan. Seems like we should go nationwide for the best we can get at every position coach, like we did originally with Venables, or now with OC Riley, and then stay out of their way and let them do their thing. Let those new coaches become your new friends…then you’re still coaching with your friends. 😜
We sure as heck have no fire or nastiness either. Someone needs to fire these kids up. I’m glad they all scored high on the responsibility test, but we need folks to score high on the “hit you hard and love it” test as well.

WR coaching. Watch the video so many of the bad plays are avoidable if the wrs flatten their routes based on the coverage they see or settle between zones. Everything is being put on the QB it does not look like what Riley ran at TCU or SMU, looks like last year.

Yep coaches coach and the players play the game. If players execute I believe we have a 10 pt win. Too many mistakes to win against anyone really. Thing that killed me is we seemed to move the ball at will but got nothing.

Well the wrs are not getting it, so coaching is to blame. You really think Clemson missed on everyone of these 4+ star recruits? Watch the QB School video. Cade obviously had the jitters the first half but the wrs were not blocking with proper technique, settling down between zones, angling there routes to gain leverage, using their hands at the LoS to get off the press properly. I have been hopeful Grisham would get it as a coach but i dont think he knows how to teach these things to the players.
