Really???

So Tigerdrummer, let's say your boss (wherever you work) took your music (which is great) and published it and made millions of dollars and didn't give you one cent. It would be ok as long as he put a pitcure of you on the album artwork?

Gotta be kidding me.

These kids are getting screwed out of millions of dollars that are rightfully theirs and they're simply asking for a piece of the pie. Many people are sitting back getting rich on their hardwork and talents. It's unethical.

Not the same at all

Jul 19, 2013, 8:59 AM

These people that are portrayed in video games simply have the same number as the student athletes. The "look alike" argument is bull. They do not super impose the players faces onto the video game versions of the players. They make faces, and then put them on someone if they look similar. They then assign attributes, which may or may not be correct. I would be perfectly happy being in a video game. Their names are not used, and what NCAA has been allowing EA to use are a skill set, which cannot be measured, captured and sold the the mass public.

I am the same age as the kids filing this lawsuit and its so stupid and arrogant of an argument to be trying to get money for their number being portrayed in a game.

Now on the other hand, what Darius Robinson is arguing, about having a part time job away from the team, is a legitimate concern. I completely understand the need to earn some money on your time off, but it is unfortunate the NCAA has a policy in place that prevents him from using his own name to sell cell phones because it could be attracting "boosters"

His example wasn't the best but that doesn't mean...

Jul 19, 2013, 9:11 AM

he's wrong.

I've always though the college athlete should be paid. The Universities make plenty off these kids. The NCAA makes plenty off these kids. The guys who create the games make plenty off these kids and so does the gatdam gamestops, walmart and everybody else who sells the games.

What are we now, back in the days when child exploitation was moral?

They produce and sell a new version of these game every year as new kids come on the scene to replace those who move on.

You know what that is Clemsonrulez? That's an unethical cop out that they use to continue to screw these kids over. These kids make those numbers worth money. And who is on the covers? The shirts? The poster schedules that advertise tickets? Who's on the tv when the media and conferences are making millions?

Who gets an education. Room and board...

Jul 19, 2013, 9:19 AM

Platform for their careers (academically and/or professionally). Three free meals 365 days a year. The opportunity to travel the country. Free gifts that some of us cannot afford if they perform during the year and make a bowl game. World class work out facilities. Access to trainers and physicians. Free clothing, including every piece of equipment they need to play, train, workout and go to class in. Away game stipends. Books. Tutoring. Instant fame, success and idolization from fans and media.

And all for free? Do you not believe that is enough in return?

Did you bother to read the other points I made or just read the title?

I can understand why the players are upset. It would be like a few hundred students working together on some research that made millions for a corporation but getting nothing in return.
