That 2004 team was pretty bad. Started 1-4, finished 6-5.
Charlie Whitehurst threw for 7 TD vs 17 INT with 50% completion percentage.
Reggie Merriweather was the leading RB with 670 yards.
Airese Curry was the leading WR with 868 yards.
93rd in Total Offense, 30th in Total Defense.

Yeah, it wasn't good but we finished well. Disappointing we didn't get a chance at a bowl. The only thing is the 4 game losing stretch was brutal schedule. Good Texas A&M team, highly ranked fla st and uva teams. And we had a top 10 win over Miami. We won't have a top 10 win this year.
But I agree with most of the posters that the final story is yet to be written.

I'll never forget the emotional high I felt after that Miami win, just to be followed up by an emotional low after the Duke loss.

By no means should Dabo be run out of town because of it, especially given his record, but he should be expected to address it openly and without being hyper-defensive.
"Something's wrong; what is it? How did it get this way?" is a perfectly reasonable question. I can't think of many coaches who would not bristle at that, (can you imagine Saban or Bobby Knight?) but it has to be asked and addressed.

I agree with your post. But in order to bring in the talent either by recruiting or the TP. Kids are looking for a positive environment or money.
Some are actually looking at Education and Culture. All of the negative energy surrounding Clemson at this time has to have a negative affect on recruiting. Research has proven recruits do read college websites to gauge the fan base, the culture of the school and more.
Unfortunately, the more spells Money for many recruits.
Instead of passing judgment on Dabo on sports talk shows, in the media or on social networks, it should be addressed after the season and the signing of early recruiting. IMO the December signing period hurts a programs like Clemson going through adversity when fans have everyday to roast the Head Coach. It can only hurt early recruiting.

I can’t. Bowden never had a losing record. But he also never won the ACC, much less a National Championship.
This has the potential to be the worst team since 1998. Let’s hope that doesn’t come to fruition.

But I have said that I’m not going to be upset if he leaves.
I’ve also said that we can’t just look at how much worse we might become if he leaves, but also consider how much worse we could become if he stays.
These are reasonable thoughts regarding a coach who won at the highest level and had many advantages, only to squander them and turn us into an underachieving program that does less with more.
We are on a five year decline as a football program. This is arguably our worst football team in nearly 30 years. If you think Dabo is doing great, that’s your prerogative, but many of us are concerned that he jumped the shark a few years ago.
I have said many times that I hope he figures things out and returns us to prominence. But I have my doubts at this point.

At this point most one can say is probably "most overhyped". Which is the same for the likes of Penn State and Texas, and others too. If nothing else, this all should demonstrate that preseason rankings are going to likely mean less and less in the years going forward in this new era of college football parity.

These kids lost 2 close games to GT & LSU and weren't able to recover.
Dabo isn't Tommy Bowden and anyone trying to imply that is dumb.
