29 years with a perfect record.

9

Mar 6, 2024, 6:54 AM

Every GOP primary vote has lost the nomination.

Been voting since Clinton's first term. Sad really. Sad for America more than anything.

A solid majority of Americans don't want a rematch of 2020. And this is the best we can do? A rematch between Biden and Trump? Even going back to 2016 our choice was Hillary and Trump.

We deserve better than 12 years of no choices but Hillary, Biden, and Donald Trump.

This a clear sign that both parties are now completely dysfunctional. This will be a great election to 'waste' a vote on a candidate from another party.

I will not be voting for Bozo or the dead guy.

Yet Trumpkins will sit there waving their flags, wearing stupid outfits, and actually believe their view of the world is the majority one.

This is pathetic for our nation. Both of these candidates are disasters. We had a chance--sorry, the GOP had a chance--to bring us back to sanity. But here we are.

Dems had an opportunity as well. I realize he's an incumbent, but the Dems had an opportunity. They had other choices. There should have been a recognition that the dead guy hasn't the mental ability to be President, and neither does the diversity hire.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep. They did. And Biden should have stepped aside

4

Mar 6, 2024, 7:55 AM

His sole purpose for running in 2020 was to remove the imbecile and his faction. He should have stepped aside for the good of America.

Just a reminder - in this Trump vs Biden rematch that so many are lamenting -

5

Mar 6, 2024, 8:41 AM

the GOP is responsible for exactly 50% of this rematch. Blame the GOP for having Trump - that is completely on them. But, don't forget - the Democrats also own 50% of this rematch and deserve just as much blame for keeping/choosing Biden.

Yet... I just don't see the same gnashing of teeth regarding the Democrat's "unwanted" choice of Presidential candidate.

I'll at least give Republicans credit for running a real primary contest. The Democrats essentially refused to hold a real primary (no primary debates or anything) and instead just decided to throw their apparatus support behind a senile, cognitively impaired incumbent candidate that "most don't want" as well.

So - don't forget that this "unwanted" Presidential rematch is the equal fault of both political Parties...

Not only are the Dems responsible for Biden, but the Dem leadership (not the rank and file) is partially responsible for Trump because they want him to be the nominee.

I genuinely don't understand that. They were also incredibly aggressive about squashing potential third-party bids like No Labels...who seem to have whiffed on their main candidates and now seemingly have no backup plan.

Plenty of reason to at least put some hard questions to Joe in a primary, why anoint a clearly flawed candidate who is underwater in polls to freaking Donald Trump and just...hope for the best?

Okay. Rock on, DNC. Great plan.

And in the meantime, it's the ordinary taxpayers in the middle who literally have no representation anymore. If ever there was an irrefutable argument we needed a centrist party of adults right in between the squabbling children to cast deciding votes by the issue instead of by party lines and actually deal-make and get government running again, this would be it.

But still...nothing. It's beyond frustrating.

These same people we are feeling terrible for

1

Mar 6, 2024, 9:35 AM

Have just as much ability as anyone else to go vote in the primaries. If they’re out there, and they’re a majority, they’re doing a darned lousy job showing it. It’s not being done to them. They’re doing it to themselves.

I have to agree on a your take.

Mar 7, 2024, 2:38 PM [ in reply to These same people we are feeling terrible for ]

I am disappointed like a lot of folks that these are our choices. I don’t have ill will toward President Biden. Debating achievements / failures, seems a waste of time. Everyone has their opinions. I will say that I felt like the plan was for him to be a one term president. Frustrated that he did not step aside and let an open primary take place for the democratic nomination. So that is frustrating.
I am frustrated that President Trump won the republican nomination. I am surprised that this happened. I thought that there were more people that had/have similar thoughts regarding him being the president again. I still believe that is the case. But I must concede that President Trump has a loyal following. He resonates with people. And I don’t think his followers are all crazy (just a few).
What is sad though, and why I agree with your take, is that in South Carolina less than 900,000 people participated in the primaries. Roughly 770K voted in the Republican, and 130k voted in the Democratic party primaries. The last presidential election we had roughly 2.5 million people participate. What the heck. How can so many of our voting age residents not take maybe 30 minutes to vote. It is easy. It is accessible. There are services you can call to get a ride. Heck in Lexington you did not have to get out of your car. I hate labeling people, but how lazy can you be.

I am a big fan of the show the West Wing. One line in an episode has stuck with me after so many years. “Decisions are made by those who show up.” It is like that at work, at church, with your civic groups, clubs, etc. It is just disappointing that we cannot seem to get off the couch and participate. We get what we deserve.

The reason Trump is around is the same

1

Mar 6, 2024, 12:00 PM

as it was last time, except there is even MORE motivation now with years of Biden under our belt.

The left is so far left, only someone like Trump has a chance to fix it. You people love to sit around and hate all the deplorables, but they are more against you than they are for Trump. But, your echo chamber won't let you believe that.
