2025 QB Situation

On friday, 4* QB Blake Hebert will be committing to Clemson.
But what does this mean for the 5* #2 QB of the 2025 class George MacIntyre?
Would we take both? Could Blake's commitment make George look elsewhere?
I have yet to look at Blake's film so I don't know if he's impressive. Would like to know some of your thoughts.

They think ranking services dictate how coaches feel. Coaches saw him throw, he was their guy, they didn't check with the services nor the message boards LOL

Exactly.
Also those services are not infallible. They did have our DJU ranked ahead of CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, Jeff Sims, and Tyler Van Dyke. On any given weekend, most of those guys might outplay DJU - depends on what version of DJU you are getting.
Stroud and Richardson alone tell you that these services can't predict the future perfectly. I trust the coaches, they haven't missed often.
Side note - I saw Luke Doty on that list and it reminded me how many of us were drooling over his highlights and hoping he would commit before we ended up getting DJU. As I said, our coaching staff knows what they are doing.
Go Tigers!

Yep, when you offer the 4-star so soon he’s going to commit.
He seems good, but there’s no way in hel* he is the top choice.

Funny, I thought I knew to take DJ out after the GT opener for Cade. Turns out I was right, and they were wrong.
Many things we are right about and they are wrong about.

Wondering how you know he is not the top choice of our coaches? I ask because we are typically very choosy with our QB offers. We offer our top target(s) and wait. All the guys with an offer are commitable meaning we are comfortable taking them should they decide to commit. If they go elsewhere they we offer the guy we had slotted as the next best option. Since we offered two guys we can only assume they are at the top of our board and we would be comfortable with either. The one item we don’t know is if we are done or if two takes are on the table.
FWIW judging a rising junior QB based on rankings is risky business

It would be nice to get Macintyre , and he might look Elsewhere but I feel like clemson doesn’t want to miss out on to many qb’s so maybe that’s why they are high on Hebert , I know macintyre has Bama offer to , I’m sure tenn will offer of they haven’t and I Looked at 247 , it says warm for clemson and cool for most of the others ,maybe the coaches know something

Go watch his film. I think he compares favorably to the Drake Maye kid at UNC.
He can sling it with little effort , realty accurate , can drop it in a bucket Has decent wheels. His ranking will climb

Watched the film on Hebert and this kid has tons of potential. Good size, good speed, great feet and pocket presence. His release is extremely quick with no windup at all. He could really be special by the time he gets here.

https://youtu.be/DgWC1w-hAcA Jason Priester talks about our RB commit the other day and then talks about Hebert possibly committing Friday. He is high on this kid and sounds like he is going to be a great QB. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is ranked higher closer to 2025.

I don't love the idea of venturing outside the south anymore to go get QBs after the Hunter Johnson and DJU experiments ended poorly, but this kid can ball. If he played HS football in Georgia he'd be a top 5 QB. Super quick release, beautiful deep ball, accurate, lots of zip on the ball with minimal effort, and great pocket presence. I don't think he's a true dual-threat, he's probably not even on Klunik's level, but he's effective.
It'll be interesting to see if he does any national QB camps or how he does in some of the All-Star games because the level of competition leaves a lot to be desired but I 100% see the talent that the coaches saw when he threw for them in person.

Look folks, this is the NIL era for QB recruiting. If the staff finds a relatively unheralded player they like after direct evaluation then who are we to question? The alternative is to play the waiting game with talented QB’s who sign with big programs with bigger NIL. Clemson can’t go thru another cycle of falling back to the next guy on the priority list. The staff will continue to recruit QBs, because there’s no guarantee a player won’t decommit along the way.

I don’t know about the pecking order in the eyes of the coaches but if we do not sign a QB this year, I think we sign 2 in 25. That’s without even considering possible transfers. Hebert is really trending up. Could be a 5 star by next summer.
