2015 ACC and Playoff Scenario

Aug 3, 2015, 7:59 PM

The preface for this is it's very unlikely that either Clemson or FSU will go undefeated this year; however, it's possible.

With that said, imagine both Clemson and FSU are 8-0 when they face each other. It would be another top 5 matchup. Assume it is one of the best games of the year and the outcome is decided in the final seconds of the game. Now assume each of the teams wins its final 3 games, and assume the Atlantic champ is the only undefeated team in the Nation and the 11-1 runner-up is top 5 and only one other team in America has only 1 loss...and the Playoff Committee decides that 2 ACC teams are among the 4 best teams in America and both Clemson and FSU make it to the playoffs!

That's what the SEC expects every year, the Big 12 wanted to occur last year, the Big 10 is talking about this year, and also the PAC 12. Why not the ACC?

To take it a step further consider the 11-1 team ends up being the NC with a 13-1 record...so one of our schools could win the National Championship without winning the ACC.

Imagine if Clemson and FSU were not both in the Atlantic side of our conference. I believe the acc appears weaker bc we are.

Imagine if Miami and VT were thought of like they used to be 10 years ago. Those two becoming average in the last decade has deminished the national perspective of the acc.

like Alabama in 2011. Didn't win the SEC, yet won the BCS, because ESPiN.

those two Bama-LSU games were the epitome of boring.
