Your Maddest moment as Clemson fan?

|
Whatever it is, spill it out...
Mine was two years ago when Dylan Thompson beat us at home. Clemson had the lead at half and laid an egg in the second half. Never thrown anything during a game until then.
A close second was the 2009 ACC title game when we let GTech convert about 50 3rd downs that game. CJ played his balls off that game!

Re: the 2009 ACC Title game, C J wins MVP and we win due to forfeit. Then Swofford says just because Ga Tech cheats doesn't mean Clemson wins. Seriously, have you ever heard of a game where one team FORFEITS and the other team in the game does not get the win?!!! This "you have to win the game on the field" is pure BS...I don't care who is making up the idiotic rules.

tie - 2007 VT game - 2008 Alabama
Nov 24, 2014, 8:04 PM
|
|
Nationally ranked Clemson has ranked VT at home, sold out stadium, national TV. We were 4-0 if I remember correctly. I had purchased extra tickets for some customers and had a big tailgate spread, was in big $$.
I have never seen such an unprepared team for such a big game in my life. The team was scared and physically abused by Virginia Tech. I was so angry I literally got light-headed.
Until...
The next season when the scenario was repeated against Alabama. This time, I and my football buddies turned 100% against Tommy Bowden. That was the quietest ride home from Atlanta you can imagine. Thank goodness he was fired because we were done.

Forgot the year, but being up by 16 at halftime in Chapel Hill and losing in overtime in the Dean Dome! I was there, thought it was in the bag !
Close second is watching Oglesby throwing an elbow in the NCAA tourney and getting ejected!
All my football ones were mentioned, but Georgia Tech in 2004 takes the cake.

even come close. We were not only fooled by a trick play, but the Criminoles were helped by the officials right after the play. The play clock expired after they yards at the goal line, no penalty was called, and they called a timeout that they did not even have. I was on the hill that day. Bits of skull are probably STILL there, 'cause my head exploded that day.

Same game as OP, the SC loss 2 years ago. When Clemson punted down 10 with less than 4 minutes left. It was an obvious move to try to minimize the margin of defeat rather than actually trying to win a still salvageable game. I could've punched somebody.

BC when Matt Ryan came to town and a ACC title appearance on the line. Just watching him pick apart Vic Koenning's zone all night, and his refusal to adjust out of it, was infuriating.

When I was young & immature

In 2006 when Jad Dean missed that field goal & we lost to SC, I got my baseball bat, went outside and hit our Clemson mail box. I didn't knock it off but put a pretty big dent in it. My dad beat my a$$. Really regret doing stuff like that when I was young. Im sure I'm not the only one but its embarrassing thinking about the stuff you did at that age.

1984 Chickens, 22 - 21 Cluckers and Hold rolled ball at Fridge's feet after kneeling down to end game.
1985 Md with phantom TD and Danny detonated on refs.
2012 Orange Bowl embarrassment.
2013 FSU in DV seeing us unable to respond to adversity at all.
2014 FSU giving #### game away on a mistake platter to a team who is an embarrassment to the ACC and CFB. FSU is trash in my opinion, period, and has been since Bobby was there.
1989 Duke where our inept offense stunk it up for maybe the best defense that has ever wore a Paw. 1989 Tiger D was the nastiest bunch of loons we have ever had and our O killed us that year.

Effing 2012....at our place.
3rd down and forever for them.
Eyebrows McGruber (Dylan Thompson) scrambles for an improbable first down.
I came as close as I ever have to throwing the remote through the TV.
Going to my first home coot game since 2008 this year, so no such luxury (of being at home to unleash the profanities). Hopefully it's all puppy dog tails and rainbows by halftime.

After that Wake Forest debacle, I (along with about 10,000 of my closest friends) finally could stand it no more, and sent a letter to President Barker begging for a coaching change. I am sure it was mine that put us over the top. And, losses to the Coots notwithstanding, knowing the results now, I would sent that letter again 10,000 more times.
ps, Dabo, it is now time to end this silly streak of theirs. Their delusions of adequacy have lasted long enough.

game in the fourth quarter. Md has the ball at about our 5 yard line. It's third or fourth down. The ball is snapped and our DE crashes hard on a fake to the fullback, leaving the entire side of the field open for the TB who took a pitch and scored.
I jumped up and saw this little white plastic table my kids used as a dinner table. I figured "so what if it breaks they are $5 at Walmart." So I kicked it, and just as I did, I saw the hand-painted, family heirloom plate my wife's mom had given my wife. Well, the plastic leg worked like a spring and vaulted the table and the plate onto the wall. The plate shattered.
Half the guys watching the game with me immediately left. The other half stayed for the end of the game, but sold me out when my wife came in asking what had happened.
I stick to cussing now.
