Best Experience at a game in the stands

Apr 25, 2012, 11:17 AM

I have lots. Two stand out.
After we went down to SCAR, the old man behind me yelled at us "it aint over, till it's over, boys".
Then we had The Catch 2. We went wild. He said again "it aint over till it's over".
After we made the tackle on the kickoff, he says "Let's drink, boys. It's OVER"

I cant recall the year. But my friend and I went to Death Valley without our wives. The reason? It was a MONSOON and we were facing Georgia Tech. We "tailgated" at TTT and TDs. Our 30 something fat @sses stumbled in to the game with a huge crowd of like minded fans. We got SOAKED and beat the tar out of the Jackets.

Countless sundresses and low cut tops have also created many happy memories!

mine is actually a non football event....

Ford, Babaloa (sp), and Robinson's senior night against VT. I was in the student section with my roommates.

I remember the crowd basically yelling "NNNNNOOOOO" when Alou shot the 3 to tie it. It went in and the "NOOOs went instantly into screams for joy. Then the steal and the dunk.

Was a great way for those 3 to go out.

quality is kinda bad but here is the video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C95UIiKGw0U

For football it would be watching the FG go through the uprights and 70000 of those trashy fans going quiet. That was also the 1st and 35 game.

63-17 was also a great game to attend.

Watching that place empty out at halftime was great. By the third quarter it was a Clemson party in that place.

pretty sad when these posts get downvoted due to your sad obsession with me.

nice. 2 uva moments come to mind, 1 great, 1 not so great...

Apr 25, 2012, 11:56 AM

the great: was a soph at W&L when the tigers came up to scott stadium in '82; it was scott's first ever night game, against the defending national champs; the crowd was electric/inebriated... :)

i had some great friends at uva, we tied one on all day for the game that was played in a steady rain. by the 3rd quarter the entire uva student section was cheering for the tigers to score again. great day, great night, good times.

the not so great: 1990 scott stadium, the end to a great run.

Since I prefer to remember the good, this is easy:

Apr 25, 2012, 11:58 AM

And, oddly, both come from that oddball football year, 2001:

1. Sitting in the crappy seats at Bobby Dodd, against No. 9 GTech, as we traded knockout blows with the Jackets into overtime. Then the shredded Apocablitz actually held GTech to a field goal on their possession. Whoever was sitting behind me grabbed my shoulders and hoarsely croaked to anyone who could hear, "We're going to win this d@mned thing!" Which we did 47-44 on Woody's TD run. It was bedlam in our little corner. Aside from a Billy Graham altar call, I can't remember so many people literally weeping with joy in a stadium.

2. Boise: The snow, the people, the cries of "Porrrrrrk Chopppp!" every time Luke got flattened by a Tiger defense that was making up for lost time. Sure it was a crappy bowl and we had to melt down a fax machine to get there. But it was a blast!

Yes, that GT game was really something.

Apr 25, 2012, 3:04 PM

We celebrated all the way home. The best part about that game for me was that I almost didn't go.

Agree on Both Games

Apr 26, 2012, 12:37 AM [ in reply to Since I prefer to remember the good, this is easy: ]

Woody headed toward the end zone and I didn't think he would get in Pure jubilation! At Boise, Bowden's brother-in-law, a coach comes out for warm ups in short pants. They were scraping the ice and snow off the field. A gent from Boise asked, "Who is that idiot." I told him that I agreed with him. It was cold but the players had a blast up there in the "winter games."

I agree Woody to Gardner to dash the coots hopes

Apr 25, 2012, 12:03 PM

right after they made the go ahead score.

Watching the FG sail through was absolutely Awesome in the Valley!!!

"Spiillleeerrrrr"

UVA game Spillers senior day. He carried the American Flag down the hill to start the game too. Pretty awesome.

63-17 is probably the best though. To go into that cess pool, and to be in such a dump, and smell such cootery around you, and to thoroughly enjoy yourself for 3.5 hours is truly amazing. Never thought it was possible, but that was a great night.

I was on the sidelines for that game...amazing***

FSU 2011

Apr 25, 2012, 1:18 PM

Was probably the best one I went too with GT 06 right behind it. Last year when rennie Moore sacked trickett on the 4th down play, I think it was loudest death valley ever got. And plus the we will rock you while tahj was kneeing the ball was an awesome feeling. The cccccjjjjj ....... spillllerrrr chant in 09 gave me the chills

1981 and 1987 vs UGA

Nuff said

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A couple:

Apr 25, 2012, 1:52 PM

2009 FSU: The We Will Rock You was insane. DV was so incredibly loud.

2011 FSU: I think this was the game. It was late in the game and the band was playing Tiger Rag. The band stopped playing, but everyone did the C-L-E-M-S-O-N without it. Gave me goosebumps.

2006 GT: Do I need to say anymore?

2008 SCAR: Ripped em a new one. Not a SCAR fan in sight after the game.

I needed something, and 80,000 Clemson fans cheering together was the sense of unity and togetherness I needed. We lost a close one, but it didn't matter. I felt like we were all together roaring into the night, cheering for Clemson, but also just cheering because it felt so good not to feel sad for a few hours. One of the best moments of my life following one of the worst.

41-23 pounding in '78 of the Chickens and '97 Chicken slay

Apr 25, 2012, 4:03 PM

my second DV game and they came in there with G. Rogers and we hit them right in the mouth the whole game....i'm surprised Rogers could walk after that game....looked like we had 15 players on D....i also remember the community Jack Daniels handle being passed down the line on the Hill from which my father and uncle partook in...filled the flask with, actually...lol....DV was like an earthquake that day. Second best would be '97 at the Williams Brice warehouse sitting in the end zone watching Tony Horne bring a punt to the house in the end zone i was sitting in AND Antuan Edwards with a pick 6 in the same end zone.....as they ran off the field into the visitor's tunnel i was on the railing yelling at the Tiger players and Rahim Abdullah slapped my hand and said to me, "THEY DIDN'T WANT ANY OF THIS TIGER D TODAY, BRO!....THEY QUIT, THEY QUIT, THEY QUIT" as he ran by....what made it so special is the fact i was leaning over two Chicken fans to slap his hand as he said it....they looked like they were at a funeral.
