We did not have a vcr then and this wasnt on tv. We learned the score that weekend but that was all we knew. Noticed fledging network ESPN was replaying a condensed version of the game so we set the alarm for a weekday morning and got up early to watch what they showed. I believe it ran about an hour.

We had attended Wofford but by then had moved from SC for a new job

I think that was even on the commemorative plastic cups that year. Don’t remember where they were but each game had its commentive cup with a blurb about the game. That was the title on that weeks cup

Listened to it on the radio, which is a rarity for me. My memory is that was tight game all the way through.

UNC had a great defense

We had Chuck McSwain , Cliff Austin , Jeff McCall and Kevin Mack
in the backfield.

They were all excellent ball carriers and were shut down

We were lucky to recover our own turnovers that day.......

Just goes to show you , as is said repeatedly you gotta have a little luck to
win a natty.

Saved the game with the lateral recovery. Such an underrated all time great Tiger. 12 years in the NFL with Seattle, 1st round pick, 1st team All American. That game was a brutal physical slobherknocker.

Afternoon game. I was there in the lower deck near the East goal line where Bryant recovered the fumble late in the 4th quarter. Got pelted with ice and cups from the upper deck from the goat fans; they new the Fat Lady was getting ready to sing then. Glad Lawrence Taylor left for the NFL after 1980.
