RB Derrick Witherspoon (1990-1993) carried the ball 198 times in his Clemson career for a total of 939 yards (4.7 average). He scored 6 rushing touchdowns.
Witherspoon also added 33 receptions for 288 yards (8.7 average) with one receiving touchdown. And he returned 4 kickoffs for 28 yards (7.0 average).

Many Clemson fans still hold particularly fond memories of his 2nd half score to tie the game with the Gamechickens in 1993. The Good Guys then won that game 16-13. According to Sun-Sentinel.com:
Derrick Witherspoon had a 5-yard touchdown run and late-season replacement quarterback Dexter McCleon directed a second-half comeback as No. 24 Clemson (8-3) defeated South Carolina (4-7) 16-13 Witherspoon’s score for the Tigers, who trailed 13-3 at halftime, evened the score at 13-13, and Nelson Welch’s third field goal – a 31-yarder with 11:53 remaining – gave them the lead.

After Clemson, Witherspoon played three years with the Philadelphia Eagles. He even had a stint with the Shreveport Pirates of the Canadian Football League. And, yes, the CFL briefly had a team in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1994-1995. (Seriously, Who Knew??)
Derrick Witherspoon’s daughter, Kalani Witherspoon is now a freshman sprinter on the UNC track team. Obviously, great Athleticism runs in the family! Probably made for some interesting father/daughter conversations during football season!

South Carolina Highway 198 is a 2.66 mile state highway. It starts at I-85 and the end of SC 5 in Blacksburg and travels north to the state line where it becomes NC 198 on the way to Earl, North Carolina.
Should have done this yesterday since we played Miami last night. With a population of about half a million, Miami is the second largest city in Florida to Jacksonville. But the metropolitan area, with 6 million, is the 9th largest in the U.S. With it's location, Miami is big into commerce and trade and is culturally diverse. And with the tropical climate, beaches, and sports, it is a popular tourist destination. Ironically, Clemson won their first of 7 Orange Bowls on January 1, 1951 against Miami. Miami was the location of the popular 80s show "Miami Vice" where the intro may been the best part along with the Ferrari Testarossa and Spyder. The second pic is the University of Miami.
