A Jackson family friend said the true freshman as well as wide receiver Demetrius Anthony are planning to participate in Spring Drills with the Tigers in 2016.
Jackson is the third ETSU player in the past year to transfer to an FBS national championship contender. Quarterback Jared Drake left during the summer of 2015 to playing defensive back for defending national champion, Ohio State, and Jackson goes into Clemson with Anthony.

Doubt the staff had much to do with it. Kids wanted to transfer so that's it. I'm not sure the coaches could convince kids to transfer unless they were on the market so to speak.

If you go from FBS to FCS you don't have to sit out a year. However, if you go from FCS to FBS you do unless you have graduated.

They only reason they'd sit is after Spring Practice , the Staff thinks they needs a RS year. Otherwise both could play next fall. Look for the WR to also move to DB.

Played at Christ Church in Greenville. Was all-everything athlete for them. He will be both an outstanding student as well as an athlete that might contribute at some point. Just the type of kid that Dabo and BV turn into great players.

I didn't know ETSU has started football back up again. If I remember correctly, we got some players from there when they shut down their program back in the early 2000s.

This is awesome! Both are eligible to play right away. Transferring from 1-AA to 1-A. Demetrius Anthony is a great football player, and hands an outstanding kid! So proud of him.

Iam so happy to share with my fellow Tigers a bit more about Mr Jackson - Austin is 6'2 ( still growing ) 200 10.6 100 meters 4.4 Laser Time 40 track All American after just one season - pre Medicine - honors student - he was not recruited heavily until late and was asked to wait by Clemson and the following schools who wanted to offer - Oregon , Purdue, Northwestern, Duke, UNC, South Carolina , Nebraska and Oklahoma. He did not play Safety in High School which hurt him so he signed with ETSU because of their Medical Dept but unfortunately was not happy because of pressures to do drugs on campus he said no! Also every since he touched Howard's Rock he has been a Clemson Tiger - he took his SAT in a Clemson shirt for good luck and scored a 1600 . I have worked with many pro athletes and Tiger Nation I can tell you that you have a solid Free Safety with lethal speed , pass coverage skills and he is a huge hitter ( see his high school highlight ) Oklahoma coaches compared him to Striker but he is much bigger and sprinter speed - his uncle is legendary OU player Joe Washington who worked many years with Coach Venables - they wanted Austin very bad to transfer to OU but he said no "I am a Clemson Tiger for life" ...btw his nickname from teammates is the Kraken because he will hit you and tackles and his freakish athletic abilities Dunks a basketball two hands flat foot - this is something we as a team will value . To Coach Swinney's , Venable, and Reed 's and Caldwell ( who discovered him ) credit you have a player who will represent the school well , will be a future Physican , he is a believer in Christ , and alot of people in the know think he will play on Sundays. His combine achievement were better than all of the Safeties taken in the NFL Draft. This will be my last post - just thought I would give some insight into this incredible young man. Also Mr Anthony is a former player of the year and every bit a FBS player . God bless All of you and God bless Clemson!!! All-In Welcome the Kraken to the Tiger Family !!

Currently enrolled and has to sit out 2016 per NCAA rules with three years of eligibility beginning with the 2017 season . Will participate in Spring Football 2016. Correction on Laser 40Time per D1 Academy 4.39 100 Meters 10.645 .
