Fuller, Jordan, Whitehurst, and Woody

Give them Morris' system/NFL talent at every position that surrounded Boyd and theyed put up video game numbers. Boyd is def Top 7, maybe even Top 5.

hahahaha!!!! I'm sorry, but outside of Watson....Boyd was easily the best QB we've ever had. And it's not even close.
But Jordan, you kidding me. #21

Wrong about Woody at the very least. He was in the perfect

system to thrive with RRod. I think that system fit him even better than Chad's would have.
I personally think Charlie gets a bit overrated too. He actually DID have plenty of weapons to throw to, and while our offensive system at the time wasn't as good as what Morris brought here, i still don't think Charlie would've been so much better that he could've surpassed what Tajh did. Charlie gets too much credit for beating a bunch of bad coot teams.
Fuller and Jordan were really before my time, but from what I've heard i think you make a legit case for Fuller. Wasn't Homer Jordan basically just a game manager? Our offense wasn't even very good in 81.

We were a pound the h&ll out of the ball offense under Danny Ford and Homer Jordan offense. I't wasn't much of a passing offense at all, but Homer could complete passes if he had to!!! If you like hearing your offense sounding like it just ran into a herd of buffalo full steam ahead, that is what it sounded like the instant the center hiked the ball.

You're also dismissing the offensive lines that Fuller and Jordan had but Tajh did not.

It was the best individual performance that I've ever personally witnessed.
From Wikipedia... "In his final college game against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2014 Orange Bowl, Boyd helped lead the Tigers to a 40–35 victory, completing 31 of 40 passes for 378 yards and five passing touchdowns. He also had 127 rushing yards and a touchdown. His performance set an Orange Bowl record for total yards in a game."
I'm not sure if you're just trolling everybody or if you honestly don't remember Tajh Boyd.

performance from Tajh we wouldn't have even been close to being in a position where he could "almost cost us the game with a late int." He had 505 total yards and 6 TDs!

Boyd threw the ball
Aug 22, 2016, 6:52 PM
|
|
but most of those passes were screens to Watkins where he caught the ball behind the line of scrimmage and made the moves to get the yards. It's not like he was making spectacular throws all night. There is a reason Sammy was MVP of that game even with the numbers Boyd had. You can't say Boyd carried the team that night because Sammy won that game. Boyd played a critical role but he also made some bone headed mistakes that almost cost us that game too. That was his biggest knock IMO, he would wow you one play then do something the next play that would leave you wondering what in the world was he thinking.

MPO is that DW4 is #1, and Tajh is #2 Best all around QB'S that has ever played at Clemson. And I have 54 years invested in Tiger FB. And Woody was the best option QB!!!

For clarification...

Tajh Boyd is the all-time Clemson and ACC passing leader with 11,904 passing yards and 107 passing touchdowns. Also, he was a major factor in Clemson winning 10 games in 2011, followed by 11 games in 2012 and 2013.
It's easy to focus on Deshaun Watson's awesomeness... and nobody would say a word against him. But, Tajh is not diminished in any way by Watson's current domination. Tajh Boyd was instrumental and foundational in today's success. Stats-wise, he's the GOAT. An argument could be made that Deshaun, with 3 full years as the starter, could surpass Tajh's numbers. But the fact remains that when Deshaun goes to the NFL, Tajh will still be the all-time Clemson passing leader for yards and TDs.

Stats are the only real comparison available and their limitations are the only reason that discussions like this are possible. The record books contain hard objective numbers without mention of subjective and hypothetical scenarios. Such scenarios are a bit silly to consider anyway. If you open the door by mixing players and coaches from different teams or eras, where does it end? You're of course welcome to choose whomever you feel the best QB in Clemson history is but Taj owns the lion's share of the records. To ignore the facts and not acknowledge his talent, importance and cotributions, with consideration of being among the greatest of the Tiger elite, is simply wrong.

Saying a player would have been been better in a different system is pure speculation. There is nothing to back this up at all. I could just as easily say that if Boyd ran the system they were in he would have had better numbers than them.

If I'm not mistaken... the most points we have ever avg per game, was Boyd's Jr year, correct? 42 ppg. For the 2016 team to lead the nation in scoring, I would imagine we need to avg over 50...."50". Possible, just not likely...IMO.

This offense can average fifty points per game, but they will probably have to score sixty points in at least four games. Also, Coach Swinney will need to let the players play to score instead of being conservative at the end of games.

the problem will be that Dabo will not leave the guys in the game just to run up scores to avg 50 points. If they do avg 50 or more for the year it will mean that the 2nd and 3rd string guys were pretty unstoppable as well.

Tajh Boyd behind our now line with all the WR talent we have, it's no telling the numbers he could put up. The Only difference in the two between Tajh and DW4 in my opinion is how calm DW4 is no matter the situation, DW4 is better than Tajh in that category!!!!

The only thing that I'm surprised or shocked by, it that so many of our Jr's left for the NFL knowing that Clemson would have been about a sure pick for winning it all this season. Heisman, ACCCG, and NCG, all of it would have been much easier with their help than it will be without them. But it can still be done, it just won't be as easy as it could of have been....
