I thought so too at first the replay showed he stopped his motion before he winded up and then started again it’s the right call unfortunately.

The only way the announcers could see & catch that balk was by watching in slow motion & go by frame by frame. There’s no way that ump could catch that in real time. So no it should have never been called. If you break every pitchers motion down in slow motion, frame by frame there’s plenty of balks to be called.

Apparently you’re not supposed to stop your motion before you pitch. That little flinch in the motion triggered I guess, but to me the 3rd base umpire was being extremely nit picky. I think it’s a dumb rule.

Thats what im saying. It is the right call, but the announcers had to slow it down to even see it. So that tells me the ump was LOOKING for it specifically

It was not a balk… one they had to show it in slow motion so of course it looks like a balk then and two that replay in slow motion was probably from a different pitch

Show it in full speed and I would agree. Everything they showed in full speed was no sign of a balk… the announcers even said they didn’t see it until they slowed it down

I bet the only way you saw that was in the slow motion frame by frame. No way you see that in real time.
