What's you #1 Clemson Touchdown?
Nov 3, 2016, 10:47 AM
|
|
I was trying to figure this out for myself and having a hard time...
Leggett's go-ahead one arm vault Scott tip-toeing down the sideline Williams full extension B-day grab DW4 going superman Gallman last week with the second effort with an inch to spare Gallman last year when he trucks the defender at the goaline (might be my fav just cause that defender was the one with the nasty facemask on DW4 earlier)
Let me know yours, and what's missing...

Spilller's kickoff return TD at the end of the first half vs. Miami in 2009. He hit a gear I've never seen before or since and it sucked all the air out of that place!

remember it like it was yesterday - will never forget how Jerry Butler went up high to make that TD catch and then saw all the Carolina fans looking and acting like they were dying.
But people tend to forget the difficult pass Fuller made to Dwight Clark on the previous play - put it right to him between two DBs - if that had been off at all the there probably never would have been "The Catch" to win the game.

when they took the lead a few minutes before "THE CATCH". I didn't see it, but i was told some of the coot players lifted up their jerseys to show off their "no cigars today" tshirts. Ask another old timer to explain it. I don't have the time right now.

Right after the Capons had started showing off their "No Cigar" shirts.
Leggett's TD last weekend was equally athletic, and dramatic. But we saw it from the moutaintop.
The Catch was our first sniff of the rarified air in a lonnnng time, and it felt good.
The fact that it ripped the chicken hearts out of the Capons at the same time only made it sweeter.

Kind of hard thinking about All time, but... one that keeps coming to mind was Terry Allen's 70 yd run right before the half against FSU in 89. Recent, Watson's hurdle over a player for a TD. #21

by the WFU snapper. He scared the crap out of the holder, caused him to cough it up, Gaines took the ball and ran it back. Changed the whole outcome of that game.

Leggett...this touchdown saved a championship season...
Nov 3, 2016, 12:02 PM
|
|
...that was the best executed, most acrobatic, and clutch TD I can recall, in my humble opinion.
Too much was at stake at that moment of the game.
I'm also not comfortable saying that having a 1st and goal at the 4 yard line, that Clemson may not have been able to get in in the end zone.
While the odds were good that Clemson would have scored. Having that TD at that moment was just huge.
Some will argue that having 4 more plays to get that TD would have eaten more time off the clock, leaving less time for FSU to mount that final drive. However, Clemson needed that TD badly and at that exact moment, IMHO.
Leggett is 250 or 260? He is lucky he didn't snap his arm supporting his weight, having timed his leap over the defender PERFECTLY. That effort when he launched from the 4 yard line is EPIC, EPIC I say!

Nov 3, 2016, 12:55 PM

Ronald William moves ball down to about the 15 yard line and comes out of the game limping.
2 downs without him and clemson gets next to nothing.
Ronald comes in a plows through defenders on way to like a 12 yard td run. then comes out of the game again.
Find out the next day that he had a broken leg when he came out the first time. So he ran that td on a bummed wheel.
