I remember the "Dillards" bags all over the stadium when Dunn played in DV. Never knew about this.

Side story

Jan 10, 2017, 4:07 PM

Warrick Dunn came with the USO to the base I was at in Iraq in 2004 (possibly early 2005). There were a lot of people there to get autographs etc.. but most of us just wanted to see the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders that were there.

So I get in the line and after about 15 minutes of waiting get up to him to get a picture, and an autographed football that they gave us. I shook his hand and asked if was still involved in his charity work as mentioned above.

Automatically, you could see the change in his face go from "automatic, sign the ball, shake the hand, move along" to something completely and genuinely happy. He stopped what he was doing and explained that he was, in fact, still very involved, and that they had recently expanded out. They now provided homes for single mothers in Tampa, Tallahassee and Atlanta. He obviously wanted to keep talking about it, but his handlers moved me along. It was refreshing to see someone that was obviously passionate about what he was doing, not just doing it because he was expected to.

Never cared for him when he played for FSU, but I'm a big fan of his to this day.
