Here we are, the #22 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

We’ve had a really good year. One of the best in program history, actually.
The NCAA Tournament started in 1939. From 1939 until 1975, the tournament was restricted to conference champions only. Of course, we never made it during that span.
Since 1975, we have been to just 14 NCAA Tournaments. Our highest seed ever is a 4 seed (1987, 1997). We have been a 5 seed three times (1990, 2008, 2018). We are a 6 seed this year. So based on seeding, which takes into account our entire body of work, this is one of the best teams in program history.
I know many of you devote the majority of your posts these days to complaining about bad losses and inconsistent play, or predicting our demise. But if you are able to take a step back and zoom out a bit, you’ll see that we have had a very good year. It’s a very good year by most programs’ standards, and certainly by ours based on our history.
Now let’s go win some games in the Big Dance. Go Tigers!
Edited to fix seeding typos.

Where do you get 23? There are four 6 seeds so doesnt that add up to 24?

Tnets users may take a dim view of the program, but I think most Clemson fans out there are proud of the bball team and the NCAA berth, and would consider this a very good season.
And I wager most would say Brownell is worth keeping around a while longer.
I hope they can make a run this year; I reckon they'll lose to Baylor, though.

Two separate issues. Yes, proud of team and want to win.
No, most of us think that a single data point after 14 years does not change trajectory. We know Brad, good and bad. Why would we want more mediocrity on his best day?

Its hard to understand how you think this is a single data point. CBB has made the dance four times and won games twice with an opportunity to go 3-4 this year. Two 20+ win seasons in a row would be a positive trend for most people unless you simply discount the data based on feelings.

Culturally, we are a "just win, baby" country. Winning is all that matters. I'm a product of that mindset. Daddy drilled oil wells. If they didn't produce, they got capped. No moral victories.
HOWEVER, there's a lot to be said for the process. Sometimes the process bears fruit, other times it does not bear fruit. This is true in business, in sports, in marriages, in life, in raising kids. Friendships. Bass fishing. Whatever.
Clemson men's bball has a process and there's a dude behind the process -- Brownell.
For 14 years, his process has brought some success, and it has brought some failure, some losses.
Personally, I see the bball program as one that the university can be proud of. To win a national title or even be a S16 program is a monumental accomplishment that few ever attain to.
At this time, in this era, I think Brownell puts the program in the best position to see long-term success.

Loving this site...
This year's team is the 12th best in Clemson's history. Brad also had the 5th best in 2017-18. Rick 3rd and 4th in a much shorter timespan, and Oliver Purnell has 2nd, 8th, 10th and 11th also in a shorter timespan. Obviously, they were better coaches, but for some reason we could not keep them.
BTW, Cliff Ellis who was the coach during my schooling and absolutely loved was 6th and 9th so pretty close to Brad.
Still think we should keep Brad.
Go Tigers!

Duke has 24 players and UNC 9 currently in the NBA. We have 1. UNC is 6 games better and Duke 3 games better than us this year. Clemson has a huge talent deficiency. It will probably pain you to hear that our coaching staff might be better than you think.

They have expressed frustration about not making more NCAA Tournaments. Well, here we are. You would think they would be happy, but they aren’t.

Bury the hate, dude. Look for the good in others. Try to love them like Christ does.
This is a good team we have. If you want better for the program, that’s great, but at least be able to appreciate where this season ranks in context of our program’s history. It’s one of the best.
This is supposed to be fun. Try to enjoy it.

You're a huge basketball fan and for whatever reason, CBB is the hill you're going to die on. Fine. In a lot of ways, I respect it, even if I disagree.
One thing we can both agree on is pulling for our Tigers in the NCAAT. Not because we like or dislike a coach. It's because we are all Tigers and we want our Tigers to win.

Don’t really care what our seed is. We finished t-5 in the acc and lost first round in the acct. We’ve done better than that lots of times. Even under Brownelle.
If we make it to the sweet 16, then ok, you have an argument. Until then, this team has accomplished very little, next to nothing really from a historical perspective.

Spin the facts however you want to fit your narrative.
Still doesn’t change the team was # 22 overall and one of only 2 times to beat UNC in Chapel Hill, let alone a Top 10 UNCheat team.
Judge the season however you want, but don’t let your personal delusions deter you from the truth.

Tied for fifth is what it is. First round acct exit too. Ranked 23d based on seeding? Beating unc? Sorry but my criteria make a lot more sense. Clemson could go 1-29 and beat unc. And seeding just doesn’t mean anything.
I’m not spinning a narrative. Just responding to the false claim that this is one of our best seasons ever. This team hasn’t done anything yet and this bs mentality is probably why it played so poorly down the stretch.
This team needs to wake up

and are prone to blowouts against mediocre teams like BC. We are two-point dogs to a team that hasn't played a power-5 team all year. Take off the orange-colored glasses and you'll see that no one believes in this team... and that's a shame because we have some talent. We just don't have the leadership to consistently get the best out of them.

Yeah me neither; go away coot your hate for our basketball coach is more important to you than the success of our team.
BTW only baby beaches give everything someone posts a TD irrespective of its contents. I’m not responding to your post because I like JK but because I don’t like “fans” like you.

NM - better season record, better conference record, won last 4 games included Conference tournament (didn’t lose 3 of last 4 & suffered a blown out in 1st tournament game)
NM better NET ranking - 22, CU 35. NM has 3 starters that average over 14 /game + conference freshman of the year, that gets more than 12.5 / game.
What NM didn’t do was start 11-1 & reach a #13 ranking & peak before the conference games began. Then become a mediocre team showing no consistency & no discipline, limping along, because of pour coaching.
Maybe BB’s worst coaching job in 14 years because he had the talent & couldn’t produce 🤔
Good coaches find the way to win the close games.
Being a 2 point underdog is generous…

Did someone mention New Mexico and you just accidentally responded to the OP instead of the sub post?

New Mexico is our opponent in the first round of the dance. My response was to the OP and his sunshine & rainbows pronouncement that "We’ve had a really good year. One of the best in program history, actually."
As far as the overall talent level of this team, yes - it up there, maybe even the top 10 in program history. Definitely one the best in Brownell's too-long tenure. But then there was typical the collapse down the stretch. Starting out 11-1 against a very strong OOC lineup, going .500 in the last 20 games and getting blown out in the 1st round of the ACC tournament.
All things considered, we should be an 8-10 point favorite over a Lobos squad that hasn't faced a P5 team all year long. Vegas has us as 2-point dogs. There's a reason for that, Geech. My response was no accident.

He's just one of many scock personalities that Judge Keller has unleashed on the board. Obviously Brownell's agent released a final surge of financing for his internet influencers as they try to close one last deal.

Yeah I’m playing the long game and created this account 15 years ago as a front. You’re not a real clemson fan you’re a sad message board poster who has an obsession with Brad Brownell. You need to find a hobby.

You've been primarily active in the last two years and that is easily verifiable with a review of your post history. You're jumping into debates that have been going on for years before that and taking sides while pretending your acting upon some set of principles. But all that high-roading you did when you first came at me has proven insincere. It's fine if you don't like me or how I use this board. But if you express that in defense of one of the single most divisive users of this board your sincerity is awfully thin. Your upvotes are a circle jerk of Judge Keller, his scocks, sycophants, and his useful idiots. If you want to see me not say anything about Brad, the simplest way would be to convince others to quit lying and misrepresenting as part of his defense. Until you show the same umbrage at Judge Keller's financial misrepresentations about our program, that you alleged of mine, then you have zero credibility.

Search of my post history will show you THAT. You have only taken notice of me in that period because you’ve been tilting at your Brownell windmill nonstop now for almost 2 years and trying to diminish the accomplishments of my Alma mater’s basketball team. That is what I take umbrage to ; I don’t give two sheets about Brownell or JK, it’s the disease of “fans” like you that make it harder for our programs to succeed.
You have a problem you are obsessed not only with Brownell but even more so with JK. Go look at how many TDs you’ve give; over 4,000! How many of those TDs have you given to the object of your obsession. I also looked at your history you appear to have responded to and TDed every one of his posts. You need to take a break from Tnet and find some perspective.
BTW I scrolled through the thumbs up I’ve given and I didn’t see a single one for JK so I guess I’m not the one who’s gonna be eating that cracker.

Even if we do manage to get by the Lobos (since we're 3 point dogs), I'm having a hard time seeing us get past Baylor. I'm not sure losing the first game in the ACCT qualifies as a "best in program history" season, btw.

We are essentially exactly where we were 14 years ago in Purnell's last season,

which was a little worse than his prior two. One and done as a 6th seed in the ACC tournament. 2 games over .500 in league play. 21-11 this season ahead of a 6-seed and 21-10 in 2010 as a 7-seed. Purnell's 12-team ACC sent 6 to the NCAA; this year's 15-team league sent 5.
Our trajectory 14 years in under Brownell is something to behold.

Should we get rings ?
Does someone have the Josten's Hot Line number ?
We need to get rings, like the chicken football team does.

I definitely want to win the last game we play this year. But my guess is the Judge’s hogswallop will ensure we wind up naked and nutless. His praise has seldom resulted in good outcomes.
