Short read on Surratt from opposing coach Sean Joyce, "Joyce remembers how a heavy rain pelted the field in the fourth quarter. He thought it might slow East Lincoln’s passing game. Joyce changed his defense to position more defenders near the line of scrimmage. “The whole time, I’m sitting there thinking, ‘No way they’re going to throw in this weather. We’ll send pressure,’ ” Joyce said. “And doggone it, if (Chazz) didn’t throw a strike, about 60 yards in the air. That broke our back.” Read more here: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/09/30/5211498/surratt-brothers-sizzle-at-east.html#storylink=cpy

Grandfather played at Fla.
"The attraction to Culpepper includes many things: His 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame, his arm (can throw a football 70 yards), accuracy, speed, strength, durability, leadership qualities and genes (dad Brad Culpepper played in the NFL). "Last year as a sophomore, Culpepper’s experience was limited while Colby Brown played out his senior year. Culpepper, however, had an outstanding spring and his stock has shot up as expected. Culpepper follows a long list of great Plant quarterbacks, including four who have won four state titles in the past eight seasons: Robert Marve (state title 2006), Aaron Murray (2008), Phillip Ely (2009) and James Few (2011)." He showcased quick feet for a receiver his size and utilized a massive pair of hands and long arms to create separation off the line and corral anything thrown his way, leaving defensive backs frustrated. Overall a top tier player in the region and wonderful early get for Clemson." http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2196811/sean-pollard From Pollard on his commit day: "It's a second family," Pollard said of Clemson. "It's basically just a college-level version of our program here. They're just so family-oriented and they look out for everybody. Even though it's four and a half hours away from home, I'm not going to be homesick that much because I know I'm with another band of brothers." Visited for scar game and had this to say, “It was a good show, I must admit,” he said. “But I don’t really know how to explain it. It was a great day. I didn’t expect for it to go how it went. I was expecting it to be real close.” Has offers from CU, scar, UofL, Wake, and UGA. Has said Scar is a slight leader at this point. However, some believe he is warming up to CU. And if Twitter is any indication, this would appear to be true. Was recently visited by Dabo.

OL- E.J. Price 6-6 290 Lawrenceville, GA Archer High 24/7 #65 overall and the 9th best OL. Rivals list Price as the #6 OT and 54th nationally. Recently listed a Top Ten (as of Jan 24, 2015) and Clemson is still in there with Aub, Ga, Mich, FSU, OhSt, LSU, scar, UT, and Vandy. The crystal ball pics have him as a UGA lean and Auburn in the mix. Was on campus for the CU vs. scar game. Per his coach Todd Wofford, ""He's a physical freak, by all definitions," Wofford said. "Very athletic, can run, he's powerful but only scratching the surface of what he can do. "He's very athletic. He has a mean streak. He's like the prototype left tackle."

OT- Clark Yarborough 6-6 268 Woodberry Forest, VA Woodberry FHS 4* by Rivals #16 OT, 187 overall. 24/7 #13 OT and #151 overall. ESPN ranks him as the #16 OT, #165 overall, with an 81 grade. Has an offer from CU and most major schools. His grandfather played at Virigina, as did his cousin. However he says his families' ties to particular schools will play "zero factor" in his decision. He is highly sought after due to his combination of size, length, technique, and agility. On his recruitment, "There are a few schools that really stand out that I'm gonna return back to during the school year," he said. "But I'm not putting out an official list. My recruitment is still very open and I'm not gonna narrow anything down any time soon." According to Yarbrough, a school's proximity to his home could play a small factor in his recruitment, although finding the "right fit" will supersede everything. "I mean, it would be nice to be close to home and be close to my family," he said. "But that's not gonna stop me if I find the right fit. It could be on the other side of the country. But that's just stuff I've got to figure out. "

OT/ DT- Javon Kinlaw 6-5 286 Goose Creek HS 24/7 has him as a 4* guy, #15 OT, and #178 overall. Rivals has him as a 3* DE, #22 DE, and number 8 in SC. ESPN rates him as a 4* recruit, #17 OT, and 181 overall. Offered on 10/15/14. Visited during Syr game. As a junior, had 50 tkls and 4 sacks. The scoop: "Kinlaw is raw, very raw as a football player. He is even more raw as an offensive tackle. He flirted with that position back in the spring, but his preference is defense, and head coach, Chuck Reedy feels Kinlaw can help his team more on that side of the ball this year. Next year may be different. Kinlaw may again make another number switch. His future is at offensive tackle if he wants to be a difference-maker on the next level. Yes, he has improved as a big end this season -- he is quicker off the ball, he is in better football shape, and he has improved his strength." DL- Julian Rochester 6'5 280 Powder Springs, GA McEachern HS. #6 DL, #46 by Rivals. Per ESPN, #7 DL, #36 overall, and an 84 grade. Size, strength, and point of attack are what separate him. Runs a 5.19 40. Had the highest overall Sparq rating for a DL at 88.71. 2013, 136 tkls, 18 TFL, 11 sks. Offered 11-13-13. Top 5 are Aub, CU, FSU, UGA, LSU. #1 DT, #3 overall by 24/7. This guys an elite prospect. Recently named to the US Army AA game. Runner Up West Defense Junior Bowl Game. Says Georgia and Auburn are recruiting him the hardest. "My chances of going pro, my chances of playing early, graduation rate, if they have my major and how big is that major at that school," Rochester said when asked what his deciding factors will be. Sports management is his intended major. "Plus how far is it from home. I love having my parents at the game." One school that is playing up that love of family is Clemson. Rochester's family is from the Greenville, S.C. area and the Tigers are working that angle heavily. This spring, Rochester is considering getting a visit in to Clemson along with what he considers "automatic" visits to Georgia and Auburn. Florida State is another possibility. DE- Shavar Manuel 6-5 262 Tampa, FL IMG Academy 5* from 24/7, #1 SDE, and #3 nationally. 5* prospect from Rivals and their #2 DE and 7th overall. 2nd overall on ESPN's Top 300. Has offers from Bama, FSU, Miami, PSU, Fla, OhSt, CU, and others. Has a top three of Bama, FSU, and Miami. From Jamie Newburg, "I was very anxious to see the 6-foot-4, 260-pounder, as they hosted a very good Tampa Bay Tech team led by Clemson bound Deon Cain. On this night Tech beat Blake 20-6. They did a nice job of scheming Manuel. On the game’s first play from scrimmage, Cain froze Manuel on a zone read option and scored on an 80-yard run. Certainly I see things that he must continue to work on. He can always get bigger, stronger and faster. Manuel can play a little harder. At least for the next two seasons he will constantly see double teams and teams running away from him. There are plays to be made on the other side of the field. He can get there. Of course Manuel can continue to work on his technique. Heck, I already think he does a nice job with it. He has several moves already in his arsenal."

Film: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3348454/levonta-taylor

A scout's take on Taylor:" I saw Taylor in person at The Opening and 5’10” may be a little generous with his height, but he plays bigger than his size. He’s a fluid athlete that transitions extremely well and has explosive speed. He can run with just about anyone. Taylor is so natural in his backpedal and and his acceleration when he plants and breaks on the football is outstanding. His footwork is so good and he has very little wasted motion. His closing speed is elite and he can run with just about any receiver. Size is the biggest issue with him in terms of jump ball situations, but he can get up there and compete for the football. He has outstanding ball skills and has the ability to be a dangerous player after an interception. He is a physical tackler that will come up and deliver a blow. He’s a willing tackler in run support." Read more: http://sonofacoach.com/levonta-taylor/

been following - good stuff - heard Dabo today say

Feb 4, 2015, 5:57 PM

that he's thinking '16 class may be 13-16 (prob more like 16-19) - but point being - '16 will be small but very elite - Cooper will be only QB - full there. FeastMode will be only RB - He made no bones about it - class fills up - its done -

so figuring we have 7 on board - we may be done for '16 by summer.

Clemson is setting the benchmark for College recruiting - and I include everyone in that statement -
