Austin Bryant: "Clemson is the total package" |
Not many things can make Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney Swinney’s annual All In Cookout has delivered big time commits over the last three years, and 2014’s edition was no different after 4-star Thomasville (GA) Thomas County Central defensive end Austin Bryant Austin Bryant Bryant was relatively certain that he wanted to be a Clemson Tiger after spending several days on campus for Swinney’s high school camp in June, but wanted to wait for his family to experience everything that Clemson has to offer. “I pretty much knew that I was 80 or 90-percent sure that I wanted to come to Clemson ever since I came to camp, but I kind of kept everything hush-hush during interviews because I wanted to make sure my family was okay with it,” Bryant told TigerNet shortly after announcing his commitment. “Once I came up today, I knew it was the place for me and I pulled the trigger.” Clemson’s family atmosphere was too much for Bryant to pass up. “The main thing that you feel when you go into Clemson is the family feel,” Bryant said. “You can tell that everybody that's around the program is family. They welcome with you open arms. At camp, I was able to see how they run things football-wise and I also felt the family feel. Today, the family feel was just everywhere and you can tell that it's a 365 days a year thing.” The 6-4, 251-pound prospect said that his family loved everything about their day in Clemson. “My mom, dad and my uncle came up with me,” he said. “Any decision I would've made, they would've been happy for me and it's no different since I picked Clemson. They loved it today, so it was just a great decision. Clemson is truly the total package for me.” With his family’s approval, Bryant knew that his time was running out, so he pulled Swinney aside to deliver the good news. “It was getting towards the end of the cookout, and me and my family were about to leave and I knew what I wanted to do,” he said. “I pulled Coach Swinney from the chaos and I told him that I wanted to be a Clemson Tiger. He went nuts.” Bryant becomes the 19th member of the 2015 recruiting class and the third defensive end – joining Clelin Ferrell Clelin Ferrell “It's awesome [to be a part of the 2015 class],” he said. “We will probably have the best defensive line recruits coming in in the nation. I'm just so excited to see where we can get to through hard work and what all we can achieve in 2015.” Bryant has only played one season at defensive end, but accounted for 64 tackles, five sacks and three forced fumbles. Excuse me but......It feels GREAT to be a damn tiger! ?? #SolidOrange
