Darius Gaither committed to Clemson right before the Shrine Bowl. Gaither is one of the top rated defensive backs in the southeast. Gaither discussed his official visit Sunday afternoon.
"Me and the guys interacted very well. Some of the guys knew I was committed, but even the ones that didn't know I was committed, they treated me very well. How the guys treated me made me feel even better about my decision." Gaither was hosted this weekend by Michael Hamlin. Gaither was able to sit down with defensive coordinator Vic Koenning. Gaither came away unsure of his status for next season, but he felt like he knows what he has to do. "It is hard to say. I feel like, if I play to my potential, I can play early. God has blessed me." Gaither has sub 4.5 forty speed, and he is a standout track athlete for Fairfield Central. Gaither says he is undecided about his track future. "I am undecided about track. Right now, I leaning against running track this year. I want to work on football. Football is my job now thats how it is in college. I want to get all my muscles built back up and work on my speed and conditioning." Family has always been very important to Gaither. His mother, father, and grandmother came on his official visit with him. "My family had a wonderful time. They said I made the right decision. They said they know they will take care of me at Clemson." Gaither said the calls from other schools have stopped coming in and he will not be taking any other official visits.
