Clemson has pulled numerous talented players out of the Jacksonville area in recent years. Gerrod Sinclair is one of several players the Tigers are looking at in Jacksonville.

Sinclair has received offers from Clemson, LSU, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, NC State, and South Florida.

He says he is in no hurry to make a decision. "I am wide open right now. By the end of my season, I will start eliminating some schools from list. Playing time will be the major factor in my decision. Academics will also be a top priority. I want to look at the overall environment of the school."

Sinclair has been to the Nike camp in the spring, and last weekend went to South Florida. "I did not perform up to my standards at the Nike camp. At USF, I played very well. It was after the camp they offered me a scholarship."

He was competing with First Coast High School stars Paul Muse and Ryan Stamper at the camp this past weekend. "Paul and Ryan are both very good players. First Coast provides a lot of competition in Duval County."

Sinclair will be attending a camp at LSU this coming weekend.

With keeping his options wide open, Sinclair has a busy schedule planned for the fall. "I will be traveling a lot this fall. I want to go to the Florida-FSU game, and the Clemson game. Also, my Uncle just told me he will be able to take me to the Georgia-LSU game."

This season Mandarin High has a new coaching staff. "Our new coach brings a lot to the table, a lot that some high schools have never had before. We are stronger and better conditioned than ever before this season."

Sinclair would like to win some individual accolades this year, but he has his sights set on the prize. "First, and foremost I want to win a state title. Then, I wouldn't mind being All-State, All-Conference, etc."

He has earned the reputation as a big hitter, but he also has a knack for breaking on the ball at the right time. The safety position is becoming increasingly more important each year, and Sinclair could be an answer to solidify a secondary.
