Height: 6-2 Weight: 185 Hometown: North Charleston, SC (Dorchester HS) Class: 2006

Byron Maxwell became the second commitment for the 2006 recruiting class on Wednesday, when he committed to Burton Burns. Despite suffering an ACL tear, we still believe Maxwell is the top defensive back prospect in South Carolina for 2006. Had he not suffered the injury, he stood a very good chance of being ranked as one of the top 100 players in the country.
Maxwell chose Clemson over Georgia and Florida. "Clemson was the first school to offer me. I felt very comfortable with them. I look forward to playing at Clemson. They have great facilities, which are only getting better with the West Endzone, and the fans always show up to support the team." We are currently working with Maxwell to line up an interview on the "Overdrive" for Wednesday or Thursday. We will make an announcement on the message board as soon as a time and date is set.
