Derion Kendrick and B.T. Potter ended their high school careers in style by capturing a fourth-straight state championship for South Pointe Saturday.
The Stallions rolled to a 38-14 win over Hartsville, where the two continued to make their mark on another special season. Kendrick passed for three scores and rushed for another, while Potter knocked through seven touchbacks in as many tries and hit a field goal to extend South Pointe’s lead. Kendrick, a South Pointe QB and Clemson receiver commit, finished with nearly 4,000 all-purpose yards this season – totaling 50 touchdowns and a 72.2 completion rate. The field goal was Potter’s 12th of the season and he improved his touchback total to 115 with a 92.7 touchback rate. The end of an era, thank you for everything Stallion nation. Elsewhere, a collision course between a pair of Peach State Clemson pledges came up one game short. A breakout season for Kyler McMichael leading Greater Atlanta Christian came one game shy of the state championships in a 28-23 loss to Peach County. McMichael rushed for 54-yard touchdown in the game and totaled 13 carries for 93 yards on the night. McMichael, a Clemson DB commitment, rushed for over 1,400 yards at a 11.5 per carry rate with 24 touchdowns. Check out some of McMichael’s defensive highlights from the season below: Clemson’s lone commit still playing, 2019 Calhoun athlete Brannon Spector will instead take on Peach County next week after a 14-6 win over Cedar Grove. Spector helped engineer a scoring drive in the game with a 25-yard catch and a 60-yard touchdown on one possession.
