Former Clemson DL hired at Vanderbilt

Former Tennessee Titans defensive line coach Nick Eason has been announced as Vanderbilt's new defensive line coach on Wednesday.

Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason discussed the hiring in a school release.

“I have followed Nick Eason’s coaching career since he retired from the NFL," Mason said in a release. "With Nick joining our staff, we are adding a well-respected and knowledgeable coach who will be a great mentor and teacher to our defensive line corps."

In 2018, Eason was a defensive assistant working with linebackers at Austin Peay.

Eason has plenty of coaching experience as he was the Titans' defensive line coach for three seasons (2014-2017) and also was the Cleveland Browns' assistant defensive line coach in 2013.

During his professional playing days, he was on four different NFL teams as a 10-year vet with the Denver Broncos (2003), Cleveland Browns (2004-2006), Pittsburgh Steelers (2007-2010), and Arizona Cardinals (2011-2012). Statistically, he finished up his NFL career with 128 tackles, seven sacks, an interception, and one Super Bowl Championship (2009).

He was drafted in the fourth round (114th overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos.

In 47 games at Clemson, he finished with 153 tackles and 15 sacks and was named first-team All-ACC in 2002.
